Hope all of the lazy a$$ hunters in bama are happy now I guess Walmart will double their corn inventory. And their price per bag. Actually, it makes no difference to me. If anything, I am probably glad because hopefully now, GW’s will have more time to chase poachers/trespassers than sneaking around looking for a kernel of corn. Lol uh no , now they got to sneak around to ser if we have a feeder permit

[quote=bobwallace] The one plus I see to this is now wardens can concentrate more on poachers instead of out checking for baiting. So the people that were illegally hunting using bait are not poaching? Sounds like busting illegal hunting is busting illegal hunting to me, isn't that part of the GW's job?

What I want to know is , what will be the fine for not having a feeder permit ? Probably the exact same fine there is now for hunting over corn. I find it kinda funny folks think that all of a sudden wardens are going to switch to night hunting patrol or something else now that there is a permit system in place. They just got turned into permit checkers overnight is all. No difference from yesterday.

What I want to know is , what will be the fine for not having a feeder permit ? First, the rack: If you don't comply after that, you get to visit the special room: Of course, the 100,000+ deer hunters in the state will overwhelmingly and automatically comply. It's a law! Erry'one will be shocked at the compliance!

Sounds like busting illegal hunting is busting illegal hunting to me, isn't that part of the GW's job? 2 totally different things. One is a hunting without permission charge, the other charge is hunting by aid of bait. Poaching has been defined as the illegal hunting or capturing of wild animals, usually associated with land use rights. (ie: Alabama you must have written permission from landowner) Turn signal violations are also part of a LEO's duty but DUI's are way more important. Same with poachers over corn pile sitters. Ive got 3 known poachers on my lease. Warden is aware and has seen the pictures of them coming and going. We know they have taken game, and the warden is on the other side of the county watching corn piles instead of trying to catch them. Hunting over bait has been easy tickets for wardens. Recon the site, pattern the hunter and go write a ticket vs having to get out and work to catch a poacher. Now maybe they can concentrate more on poachers.

It's not going to stop at deer and hogs.... the lazy a$$ non-hunting city boys that wanted this passed so bad will now be screaming for baiting on turkeys, doves, ducks, alligators, squirrels and every other dad gum animal we hunt in Alabama till all they have to do is drive their golf carts around and pick up carcasses so they can take their picture on Facebook. All this boils down to is folks are too lazy to do the work it takes to do green fields and that's it. Can't afford a tractor? well guess what neither can I but I still get my fields in every year with hard work and sweat equity. Alabama will model Texas in 5 years all because people are too lazy. So this new thing in Alabama pisses you off because you feel some people aren't working as hard as you choose to? Are you one of those guys that gets pissed at rifle hunters because you choose to hunt bow only? I'm glad it passed and I will gladly pay the $15 to rid my land of some pigs. I won't waste my money putting any out to kill a stupid pine goat. I'm mad because it does nothing to help the wildlife and preserving it for future generations (particularly my son). The point about the lazy a$$ hunters is it would have never been brought up if people weren't so lazy. It's cause and affect. With CWD knocking on our doorstep this just greatly increases the chances of it becoming widespread in our state, it's not a smart move by any stretch unless you just want to "hunt" over a pile of corn. WOW! Have you EVER hunted Texas? Is that supposed to be a bad thing? Texas hunting absolutely rocks! If corn makes Alabama hunting like Texas then Ill be freaking pumped. Oh..by the way...green fields ARE bait.. just ask anyone on here...theyll tell you !

Got it, you have a personal stake in what you want the game warden to be doing, it's clear now. Aren't those poachers trespassing and can't the sheriff department address that?

This was a line in the al.com story -- "Alabama Department Conservation Commissioner Christopher Blankenship said the department did not initiate the bill but was not opposed to it."
Says volumes.
People were selected and moved around and put into place years ago to get agendas accomplished. This baiting deal was one of them. It's been a long time coming but they finally succeeded.
Next will be high fences and trying to get deer reclassified as livestock so they can be sold and not managed as "hunting" animals under DCNR control. Just wait.

I hunt a LOT of different properties every Summer for hogs.
I honestly cannot remember the last property that I visited that did not have evidence of Baiting.
But, for some reason........NOBODY on Aldeer does it! LOL
Well, there’s baiting and there’s feeding. Crass, low forms of life bait. We distinguished Southern gentlemen feed. There’s much distinction between the 2, my friend.

What are we doing? The state is dumping how much money to stop CWD and then passes this? Two different things. The DCNR is working on CWD. It will require help, probably, at some point from the Legislature, which doesn't know shinola about it and will have private landowners beating down the doors to "make all those pointy headed biologists quit doing this and that with a disease!" The Legislature pushed through a bill to allow the sale of a permit for baiting, albeit without the DCNR objecting. This baiting agenda has been in the works for a long time. MANY years. But it's also politics and agendas, and who can help someone else, just like always.
