I hunt a LOT of different properties every Summer for hogs.
I honestly cannot remember the last property that I visited that did not have evidence of Baiting.
But, for some reason........NOBODY on Aldeer does it! LOL
If you're ever up this way I can take you to my property, which isn't mine but I hunt it, and there will be no evidence of baiting. And if I had access to my old property that I hunted there would be none there, either. Not everyone does it.

get deer reclassified as livestock . Within the context of non-wild-high-fence deer, I think this would solve a lot. It would effectively separate the interests and application of ultra rich high fencers from normal hunters. You could allow high fencers to “hunt” all year around. Do whatever they please (if I feel like going and shooting all my cows or goats till they’re all dead it’s my choice). Then have a set of laws for actual hunters hunting actual free game animals.

I'm not sure we want to go down that road, to be honest. It sounds good in theory but has some bumps. But it will be next on the punchlist by some. Bank on it.

Well, there’s baiting and there’s feeding. Crass, low forms of life bait. We distinguished Southern gentlemen feed. There’s much distinction between the 2, my friend. Just trying to give the deer what they want, thats all.

There's not one damn SOB elected in this freaking state that's worth $15. That is high finance to them, except for their stuffed pockets full of payoffs. Screw them.

Also:

Children under the age of 16 that are not required to have a license? Over 65 too I think

Nothing says freedom like paying our overlords for permission. If no revenue had been attached to this it would have never passed. Last record I could find online shows 167,000 licensed hunters in Alabama. If just 100,000 of them are deer hunters thats a extra 1.5 mil of revenue a year. You're assuming that 100,000 of them will pay for the permit. Remember, this is a group of hunters along with turkey hunters who have given a big FU to the GameCheck mandate. If you think 100,000 or more deer hunters are going to pay for "the privilege" of putting out some corn for deer, you're sadly mistaken. I'd bet 80,000-100,000 of those 167,000 were already hunting over bait. I'm betting that permit compliance is going to be lower than gamecheck.

I don’t know....... who’d risk a $500 fine and any further scrutiny over a measly $15.

WOW! Have you EVER hunted Texas? Is that supposed to be a bad thing? Texas hunting absolutely rocks! If corn makes Alabama hunting like Texas then Ill be freaking pumped. Oh..by the way...green fields ARE bait.. just ask anyone on here...theyll tell you ! It wasn’t the quality of hunting that I was referring to in a negative connotation rather the exclusivity of it and the lack of access

Why, just one time, can't we admit that food plots are not killing plots? They benefit various wildlife.

Anyone with half a brain knows that. Maybe since they got baiting passed all those who were too “proud” to plant will finally admit it.

I’m going to miss all the “ baiting regulation out of sight out of line out of town down right out right stupid “ threads on here. I hope they never fix game check either. DCNR is sucking all the fun out of Aldeer.

What are we doing? The state is dumping how much money to stop CWD and then passes this? Two different things. The DCNR is working on CWD. It will require help, probably, at some point from the Legislature, which doesn't know shinola about it and will have private landowners beating down the doors to "make all those pointy headed biologists quit doing this and that with a disease!" The Legislature pushed through a bill to allow the sale of a permit for baiting, albeit without the DCNR objecting. This baiting agenda has been in the works for a long time. MANY years. But it's also politics and agendas, and who can help someone else, just like always. I get it Clem, but the DCNR is a state agency, charged with managing our wildlife. They certainly have the ability to pull some strings in the legislature. I get that the string pulling may not alter what those knuckleheads do, but there is no serious conversation about CWD prevention if you are legalizing baiting. For a DCNR rep to say they don't care about this is ridiculous. Historically, I've given more trust to the state game agencies than I probably should have......I think I'm a fool no longer.
