I ate my a$$ off on keto diet. Tons of brats, burgers, conecuh, and cheese. Grab a pack of pepperoni to snack on.

Pepperoni, cheese and pork rinds for lunch here. Nuts for snack this morning and this afternoon. Hope I can talk the wife into Huddle House tonight for a meat lovers omelet.

I felt great this morning, but about 2:00 pm I crashed. No energy. By 4:30 I was slightly nauseated with a headache. It’s since gotten a little better minus the headache.

I ate pretty light today so I had two hotdogs (no bun) with a pile of shredded cheese on top and some green beans for supper.

I am shocked at the amount of protein you guys can eat and stay in ketosis. I had to eat huge amounts of oil, nuts, avocados to stay over 1.5 mmol

I don’t know if I’m in ketosis or not, I have been eating lots of fresh veggies and a half of an avocado every day. But I haven’t gone and gotten any test strips or anything yet. Right now I’m just trying to get used to no bread or beer.....I miss beer

I actually weighed less than I thought I did starting out. Last time I could remember getting on the scales I was around 208. I started Keto on Tuesday. On Wednesday I got on the scale and was 194. Today I was 191. Still have a cloudy hungover feeling headache that I’ve had almost constantly since Thursday evening. Hoping it clears up soon.

291 this morning. Some of my prior weight loss this week was due to dehydration. I worked, outside, all day Wednesday. I left the house at 7am and came inside at 930pm. It was hot and sunny and I was out in it all day. I didn't have nearly enough to drink and it caught up with me around 8pm. I then drank too much water (64 ounces) at one time and I think it messed up my electrolyte balance. When I got home I was dizzy. I couldn't stand without leaning against the wall. Additionally my blood pressure has been through the roof, or at least was yesterday. I checked it and it was 190/96. This morning it's down to 155/86 but I did take a beta blocker that I use to be on last night to bring it down. I'm still taking my regular blood pressure medication.

I have not been checking my blood pressure while on the diet because I've felt great, so I can't say with certainty that it hasn't been high prior to getting too hot and dehydrated. Any keto guys checking your BP? Any thoughts?

Regardless, I'm still feeling great and still wide open on the keto plan. The first good round of FL strawberries are now coming in and I am enjoying eating a little fruit now. Apparently strawberries, blackberries and raspberries are the only keto "legal" fruits to eat. I bought a pint of very ripe strawberries yesterday while in Clanton. They are incredible and I limited myself to 5 of them. That's another win for me. This will power that I have suddenly tapped into is a first for me.

I understand your point, but I disagree. I don't like the strips but the blood tester is allowing me to see which foods drop my level of ketones. Dairy products cause my ketone level to drop and I wouldn't have figured that out without the tester. It also serves as some encouragement for me. It's like a competition with myself. Seeing if I can get the level up.

Dang, Fur.
Watch that B/P and stay hydrated!
I cheat. I put those sugar free singles in my water. No calories. Tastes like Koolade. I’ve really come to enjoy the Powerade Zero too.
Grape is my favorite single. Red is my favorite Powerade.

Hardest challenge yet. Wife wanted Cracker Barrel for breakfast this morning. Had to sit there and look at grits, biscuits, and gravy. But I stayed true and just had coffee, three eggs, some bacon, and sausage.

Y'all don't freak out when I start the Straycat plan. I've been reading for a long time and have started and failed like a yoyo multiple times. I ache and hurt in my joints when I have too many bad carbs along with ongoing heartburn. I'm tired of feeling this way. I just turned 50 and it's time to quit being an idiot and get serious about eating more healthy. I'm gearing up for a June 1 start. I'm at 267 right now. I lost 30 pounds a couple of years ago and have kept 20 of it off (one of the Aldeer weight loss challenges we did).

My plan is to tailor make the right plan for me by using and adapting various keto or low carb plans as a base. I know myself and my weaknesses...also know what I really enjoy. I'm going to find a way to still have my cheeseburger fix on occasion. Hopefully my plan will work. I'll keep a thread going because feedback and accountability help me.

Great information on this thread and many inspirational stories of success. Great job Fur!

Thanks straycat. I actually thought specifically about you yesterday while I was eating a Double Big Jack with bacon and no bun. Perfectly "legal" on the keto plan. If I eat any non green carbs, I crave bread and sweets. I didn't know that until I stopped eating any carbs that weren't green. After I ate that cheeseburger yesterday, I actually thought to myself, "these are better without a bun."

Never, ever thought I'd say that. I've only had one time, one day that I had a major iced honey bun craving but I didn't give in.
