Anybody ever heard of taking egg crate mattress and cutting it up in 2-3 inch circles then put it in a ziplock bag and pour cream of chicken soup in the bag and saturate the foam good and leave the bag about half open so they can smell it and place them in different areas , they say they cant digest it
and it will kill them .

Never heard of that one... after reading what chocolate does to a coyote, I'd get some old frozen meat ready to be thrown out of the freezer and dump it and about 5 cans of cocoa into a bucket... mix and put it out for bait.

Just google "chocolate" and "coyotes" and you'll find a lot of info on the fact that if coyotes eat enough chocolate, it will kill them. Same principle as house dogs consuming chocolate to the point of death.

I would echo that sentiment. Lots of questions should influence whether or not this is a sound idea for your hunting ground. A few would include:

(1) Do you have hunters in your club/on your property who hunt with dogs (squirrel/coon/rabbit/etc.)?

(2) Is your hunting area remote or populated with people who have dogs running around?

Nowadays, people pay hundreds of dollars for hunting dogs and pets are considered "family" by so many. With this being the case, I'd be very careful before automatically going in this direction. For the club I'm a part of, it's not a good idea because our property lies in close promixity to residential areas which have dogs running loose... and we also have a few coon hunters.

First of all, it's probably not legal, second it doesn't sound like it would even work. How would it kill em? They'd just crap it out.

Im sure the "Aldeer Lawyers" will probably chime in, but I think the intent is to just satisfy their sweet tooth after they chow down on a tasty five week old fawn (or two)..

May want to add a few zeroes to that.....

Certain coondogs sell for 10's of thousands of dollars.

Heck, hog dogs are hard to find and expensive when you do. Nothing to sell one for $2500 - $3000.

That is why I raise my own! smile

you can also use the foam with chicken grease . put the grease on the foam hot ,it soaks in better and put it out . the foam will swell up and bust the yotes stomach .

been hunting 55 years. a little slower but much wiser . laws are for outlaws not sportsmen. respect the land and the wildlife !

I don't think it will work. We all know dogs tear up foam cushions, pillows, etc all the time. Ask your vet how many times he has seen a dog killed by a sponge or foam.

Also...it takes a lot of chocolate to kill a dog in most cases.

It's not their sweet tooth on the chocolate. I'm not sure what the chemical is in chocolate that kills them, but it takes a pretty good sized dose of dark high Cocoa content to kill a canine. That stuff is bitter.

That's cause these guy don't know THE secret. THE secret is that you've gotta use Flip Flops, not foam rubber. Seriously, my FIL had a bird dog die after eating a Flip Flop. His neighbor is a vet and did a post mortem to find him all clogged up with either the Flip or the Flop.

SO: All you guys wanting to try this go get some of your wifes "Yellow Box" shoes and lather them up in bacon grease and go kill all your neighbors dogs, uh I mean coyotes!

Apparently my labs didn't know that either. I think anyone who has ever owned a lab would have a hard time believing foam, chocolate, even flip flops, could kill a coyote grin I had one who, in addition to several couch cushions, etc, ate a WHOLE Dutch chocolate cake and didn't even show symptoms of a stomach ache.
