I bought it online for so cheap I really thought I was getting a copy and not the original. I googled this book and can't find another one. It may be the only one in existence to my knowledge. I don't want to keep it. Is there anywhere around the state that would actually want it to preserve it?

State archives?

If you run across any civil war related stuff from Rex Miller I’ll buy them.

Gonna call them tomorrow. It also has a dated signature in it of 12/29/19. I can keep million year old rocks but I don't want to keep old books. This book did teach me a great deal about what the old timers found. All of these old geological surveys are worth reading.

Those USGS/and Geologic Survey of Alabama books are pretty common and the state Archives has full sets of them in mint condition. I have several cabinets of them in near mint condition. They were published to generate business in the state and to utilize natural resources across the country.

PM me your address and I'll send you this one on the Gold Log Mine. It is very interesting. The assays at the time were higher than in any other area. I've been to the mine before. It is a Wierd formation. Like the earth hiccuped a little bit of gold in an area that is not really very well mineralised.

That's awesome! Do you know where to get another one? Would really like to have one for Clay/Randolph counties too.
We do a little prospecting & find a little gold here & there.

You can go to your local library and find them and most of the time they will sell these older books.

They may be published online, try Google Books. Those are all public domain books.
