Thanks guys. I’ve done it long enough now that the “new” has worn off so even though I’m still losing weight it’s getting harder to stay motivated. I feel good so when I feel good it makes me not as concerned and I know that doesn’t make sense but it’s just another mental cycle that I have to break. This has been as much about self discipline as it has been weight loss. I’ve never had any self discipline and want to develop that. G/H there’s a difference between ketosis and Ketoacidosis. One is good and the other is dangerous. The info in the link will explain it much better than I could. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324237.php

I haven't had a bad update yet, so here's one.
I weigh one pound more than I did last Sunday. This week the diet has been tough for me, mentally. These have been the times in the past when I'd give up. I've prayed a lot for strength and wisdom. Thursday evening, Friday and yesterday I ate more carbs than I've been eating, in an attempt to jump start things. Yesterday I was still hangry. I dropped the carbs back yesterday and ate less than 50 grams of carbs yesterday and did eat 3 meals. Today I have only eaten meat and eggs. I have not been hungry this evening and only ate breakfast and lunch. I have eaten around 1500 calories today.
Maybe this will jump start things again. I am focused again, so even though the scale went the wrong way, I fought a mental battle and won. If I can keep doing that, there is no way that I can fail.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Fur... you are on a journey not a trip with a destination. One pound gained weight is actually a blessing. It means in a few weeks you will drop 3 pounds. Hang in there and wait. I’ve been doing it for 22 months. Thanks. Getting rid of the destination mindset has been hard. I'm still struggling with that but it's getting better.

The reason you guys are still getting hungry is that you still have foods in your diet high on the glycemic index causing an insulin reaction. That reaction drives blood sugar low and your body tells you it is hungry because it needs food to get the sugar level back up.
I eat less that 10 printed carbs most days. When I say printed,I mean labels. Raw Broccoli does have carbs but because of the fiber it's not the same at all,so isn't counted that way.
Stop anything that tastes sweet for about 2 weeks and see what happens.
If I ever stopped losing,or gained more than 3 days I would fast 48 hours and eat just a light salad or such the next day.
Secret diet tip- A 200 mg caffeine tablet will keep your hunger pains away until you get use to the 18 hour IM fast cycle.
I'm still losing weight exactly the same at about the same rate I'm down to 195 now from 330.

RH I appreciate your reply and your expertise but unless a green salad has too many carbs in it, I’m not eating too many. Having said that, I think there is much more of a delayed reaction to food than I have always thought.
I think my problem started when I did eat too many. I ate a couple slices of cantaloupe every day for about 4 days. That was a week ago. I think that just “showed up” late in the week.
After 2 days of NO carbs I’m back to not being hungry this morning. I did get hungry last night after I updated this thread. I ate about 20 olives. Total calorie count yesterday was under 1750 and I wasn’t hungry when I woke up this morning.
I think I’m headed back in the right direction.

After 2 days of eating NO carbs, I'm back to not being hungry. I guess cantaloupe triggered that issue. I just looked and it is listed as a high GI food, even though it has lower carbs than most any other fruit. My blood ketone level was 1.4 today which still isn't quite in the optimal level, but two meals of meat 4 hours apart and I'm still stuffed.

I derailed a bit tonight. The wife and daughter made Tuscan chicken over angel hair. I indulged BUT it was still half or less of what my old portion would’ve been. I never knew angel hair could be so carby until I plugged it into My Fitness Pal.

A derail will slow down weight loss, but eating bad one day won't effect you in the long term any more than eating good only one day would. I don't cheat ever because of how much weight I had to lose but if I did I would try to count at least 10 days after of eating absolutely perfect.

I ate several things in the beginning I shouldn't have been eating and learned most of what I know through trial and error. You want as little insulin reaction as possible and while it's a balancing act, you also need to eat good fats for energy. The balancing part is that you eat too much fat and you will burn less of your fat,but if you don't eat enough fat you won't have enough energy to keep your metabolism high and you won't burn as much fat.

I ain't been posting but I'm down 18 pounds in the last month, slow and steady. Dropped two pants sizes, feel better, more energy. And I sleep better. At 232 pounds yesterday, looking for 210.

Alcohol however is worse for any diet than the carbs in it,because your liver has to stop whatever it's doing to help you and get rid of the alcohol first, because it's becomes the worst threat to the body. Sure does feel good though stumbling around don't it?
