I’ve taken medication for it since I was 12. It’s real and it wasn’t I couldn’t sit still it was I was sitting in class thinking about everything but what was being taught. Medication for it slows ur thoughts down so u focus and take in what ur task is. If u don’t have it it acts like speed and makes things worse. I’ve seen so many take meds for the wrong reasons such as losing weight which is only temporary. I still take half the dose I’m supposed to at 49 yrs old and struggle some if I don’t. It’s something that folks had for years but wasn’t recognized years ago and led to many divorces and different character issues. It’s not a magic bullet like some think and I know cause I’ve been on both sides and can tell u the truth about it. It’s diagnosed for a lot of wrong reasons like I mentioned above. Just my real experience for what it’s worth.

Studies show that 25%-30% of college students use these type drugs. In the U.S. about 10% of children have been perscribed ADD/ADHD meds in Europe it is less than 1%. Something ain't right about that.

Yep, it's a crutch. Unless something has changed in the last 20-25 years to cause this outbreak of ADD/ADHD, you'll have a hard time convincing me it's anything other than upbringing.

Yep I’ve been on crutches since I was 12. I would have a hard time believing it’s anything but upbringing but problem is I was brought up working hard with good parents so there goes that theory.

My son has been diagnosed with autism and ADHD. Hes been on the pill for a couple years now. I was dead against it in the beginning but agreed to just try it. The difference is daylight and dark as has been mentioned many times in this thread. You cant just beat a kid and expect to get the same results.

Mods, how about pinning this thread at the top so new members can go ahead and figure out which current members are idiots.

Sure, an ADHD thread pinned at the top makes a lot of sense on an Alabama Hunting forum. Sorry if I offended you, but my opinion is worth just as much as yours.

I've been around plenty of folks who have been "diagnosed" with ADD or ADHD. There is only one out of about a dozen who I think may actually have some sort of problem. I happened to live with him for a couple of years in college. He was pretty laid back most of the time, but when he had a test he'd pop his pill. He would do everything under the sun that could be done before he studied. One time he pulled our TV center off the wall, and took all the TV, DVD, X Box, Apple TV, ect cables and went to work parting and labeling them with zip ties. He probably spent 2 hours doing it. After that he went and studied for a little while. He did graduate college and is doing very well for himself now without any meds

Is it over diagnosed.. YES! Which is a dang shame for lazy Docs and Big Pharma. IT IS NOT A DISEASE. But ADHD is real. Anybody who doesnt understand that honestly isnt qualified to have an adult conversation.

The average population receive stimuli to the hypothalmus (going by memory?) thru a widescreen movie screen like window... so they literally have many different things that they are aware of. However, people with ADHD have a window which operates like polarized glasses. Only one thing shows up and catches their attention. This is all they can see (has advantages and disadvantages). ADHD is not a deficiency in attention or in ability to remember but moreso the consequences of only seeing one thing. So when somebody or circumstances (stimuli) makes the person with ADHD change their thought to another item the person with ADHD hasnt lost their keys, or forgot to close the refrigerator.. etc but rather the task is literally gone on their window they see because they are now only seeing what they were directed to think about. It is very much a physiological process.

Hey Johnny, numerous Docs. The shrink was a conversation. But like I said I have done individual research. I bet anyone on hear who has ADHD has a heightened startle effect. Why ? ADHD hunter model would predict such behavior. If you cant fight or flight you die. I know that my babinski effect is insane. When a doc test my patella tendon I literally kick them in the crotch.. .. .i.e. heightened startle effect.

I guess I have the ADHD and Warrior gene. Before certain missions I would be prescribed, a shot of GG in both ass cheeks, antibiotics, speed, pseudoephedrine, tylenol, and peanut m&ms.

You guys would never guess the intended side effect of acetaminophen

Huh? The one single thing that DQ’s you from status is scripts. I’ve never heard of teams guys being shot up with stuff before kicking doors and I’ve been in a lot of on-deck circles.

CBD oil may be beneficial as well.

If they have never warmed a cold vial of GG before getting shot in the ass cheeks, I’d say they were straight up posers. If they never did squats and massaged their buttocks after the shot they never mentioned getting shot up with, posers for sure.

I got meds for it for about 2 years. I finally asked them to take me off it. It sure was helpful for my undergrad work. Focused like no one's business. It raised my BP. I figured I could live without it so I quit it. It's great for those that need it. Some folks do well with a speed sort of drug. It slows their thoughts down. Caffeine slows me down. I know that's odd but it's true.

Been here long enough to go from "bring 'da pain" to " bring 'da pain meds.
