Old habits, I guess. For 30 years I had to wear cotton and flame retarded garments. That's my wardrobe.

I figured there’d be some corn shelled this week. I know going from 9hrs of 72° straight into 95° cotton fields aint no fun.
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

I usually soaked to the bone by the time the sun comes up from working in the garden. I then come inside and and cook off and dry a little. I then grab a cup of coffee and back out the door and head to the field to get equipment ready to harvest rice. Takes about 5 mins and soaked again. Usually have everything ready to go by 1000hrs and then back to the house. Take a shower, fix the cooler and water jug, grab a small bite to eat and pack my shirt pocket with my cheese/peanut butter crackers and back to the field and we start cutting 1100-1130hrs. I get I’m my nice cool tractor, say a little prayer for a good day of harvest and turn on some good tunes and do my damndest to make sure the combine never stops and waits to unload.

Tomorrow is supposed to be hottest day in last 7 years and we’re supposed to burn off a clear cut. Fun times. Fun times

It was hotter’n the devil’s side taint today. I spent 9 1/2hrs on a 19ft scissor lift, no breeze, no shade.. All I kept thinking was a farmer would figure out a way to get an air conditioned cab on that bad boy.

I got down to my camp this morning just before 8. Did some work and glad I had to be at work by 1. It was brutal by 930. You know it's gonna be a hot day when you get a heat advisory alert on your phone at 5am that it doesn't expire until 9pm. Days like today make me glad I didn't become a forester. Cruising timber in this hell ain't my idea of a good day.
Dr. B Them doctor hours must be very nice. 😁 I've got a daughter in medical school. Can't wait for her to buy my lake house. 👍 Hours and AC ain’t bad. Money ain’t what it used to be but I’m not complaining. Blessed not to still be painting a sawmill or scouting cotton in this heat. Where is your daughter in school? Dr. B

Fu!;’;/-‘&@“!ing hot today! Got plenty of bottled water on ice though.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
