If I remember right, we practiced when it was 100° in august and we practiced with ice on the ground later. I reckon if we made it my boy will too. If you havent noticed sissifying our sons seem to be the trend these days. My boy aint gona be a sissy. He said it was cooler than yesterday.

During the summer, Briarwood does practice super early and then meets back for later evening practice. I'm guessing now that school is back in session that has an effect on when they practice.

My pastor's son plays for Briarwood. I'm sure I'll hear all about the heat on Sunday at youth group.

I always had an edge on everyone else in this heat during practice. I puked a few times when I was in jr high but when i grew up a little, I knew how to handle that heat. Man it was hot back then.

It be's that way sometimes.

When I was that age, I was stacking 300 or 400 bales of hay in a sweltering hot barn. I looked forward to football practice for an easy little beak.

If that's the case, there wouldn't be any coaches at all in Alabama...they've been practicing for about a week now and games start in about a week

I’d rather sweat when it’s 100 degrees vs 15 degrees.

we've seen it 103 on the field during a game. in a bowl with no wind blowing practice makes it easier to handle a game but water is a must.

2 and 3 a days in August, I wish I was still in that shape. We would run 2 miles before the coaches got there to get loose all while smoking cigarettes. I’d die if I tried the two miles or the cigs now .

Stacking square bales in a barn loft in July and August was hotter than any football practice I was ever at. Neither one killed me

Athletes are safer now than ever before. When I was playing college football, we had 2 a days and about 5 hours of meetings a day for fall camp which lasted about 2 weeks.

We had to weigh in before and after practice so they could keep track of your fluid loss. (I lost 12lbs in one practice taking water breaks every 10 min) We also had ice baths to drop your core temp. They regulated your water and electrolytes, pushed you hard, but also knew when to back off.

That was nearly 20 years ago, I can’t imagine how far advanced they are now.

We used to hire a bunch of my jock buddies. They'd usually keep up pretty good but it's definitely a work out. I hired one guy fresh out of the Marines, back in 87, he was all mouth. Talking about how much he could do. I had to take him home at noon on the first day. He almost died. 😉
