My wife told me Saturday that I am getting to old to do all the work it takes to hunt deer and I should just relax and don't worry about all that stuff
My birthday was Saturday and I turned 75. I have been deer hunting for 65 years and I am not about to quit now. She said that one day they will find me in a stand dead from a heart attack or stroke. My response to that was. (that would be great). I have taught my sons and grandsons the sport also and they love it as I do. I thank God for my life. I turned 72 in June and I'm nowhere near ready to quit. I have to take a different approach to it but feel like it will keep me going until I just can't. The heat kicks my butt but I just have to manage it. I was out yesterday bush hogging food plots and today I was trimming around a shooting house I've been working on and trimming limbs on field edges and trails. I hope I'm good for another 10 years. I'm with you on dropping dead while in a stand, what a way to go. If I get to where I can't do this stuff anymore ill probably die of a broken heart, I'll definitely be ready to go meet Jesus. I just hope you can deer and turkey hunt in heaven, hopefully all the bucks are booners and all of the gobblers are limbhangers. Hope to see you there

Well that’s just how my Dad went out back in 1995. Died of a heart attack on the deer stand up in the river swamp on a dog drive. Miss him every day but know he went out doing what he loved and in the place he enjoyed the most.

I can’t imagine ever giving up any outdoor activities. It’s a blessing from God to enjoy all of his creations.

Hunt with some old guys two in their 80's and other 70 ish. Not quitting til I have to, I have to many grandchildren to teach how to hunt and fish!

While I’ll hunt deer until I die, what really keeps me going is hunting in Namibia every other year. I walk 2-3 miles a day and ride a stationary bike for 30 minutes a day to get in shape for my African hunts. There’s nothing more exciting than tracking a 1600 pound Eland, but then have to quick tracking because a huge male lion is also tracking him. Or coming upon the fresh tracks of a male leopard dragging a freshly killed 300 pound Eland calf. There’s just nothing like it.
