I've never planted cereal rye, and wanted to get y'alls opinion of whether its better than wheat and oats. I plant a lot of corn for the deer, so the greens are just a side salad. My local feed store doesn't carry cereal rye, so if high recommended I would have to try ands hunt some down. Thanks in advance.

It may not be better but produces a good bit more tonnage and grows when everything else slows down. I mix it with wheat or triticale.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

We have been planting it in with our mix for about 3 years now and it grows very well even in our poor dirt areas. Get ready to pay for it though. You are probably looking at $75 a bag and not all places will carry it since its so much more than wheat and oats. Look for it early. We usually order ours about now and store it cool and dry till planting time.
Sent ya a pm HHS

You are probably looking at $75 a bag Where I live, there's a place that carries a Pennington product called "Wintergrazer 70" I believe. It's not cheap, but maybe like $33. You have to know what to ask for, The people that work at the desk won't know cereal rye from rye grass, I assure you.

$75 a bag for rye???? Damn I need to go waaaaay up on my prices then. I got 4,000 bags on my floor I’ll make you a deal at $45/bag yeah but yours dont have a fancy pic of a deer on the bag now does it? lol totally my fault on this one for aldeering while driving. I was looking at the prices I got last week and got the rye and the diakons lines crossed. CR is .40-45 a # in Birmingham. But if ya got diakons at $45 a bag i will take 15 bags
