Fire them all, they were terrible at what they did if their work is a reflection of the customer service we received.

So did the thought ever occur to you to stop and ask, maybe you could learn something that you didn't know about the union? but it's easier to come on aldeer and complain, however will not be alone there are a lot who don't want to know.

And then there's me.... I just don't care.

It never ceases to amaze me that guys who are seemingly willing to help out others in so many situations are so eager to wish ill will on a union worker. You may not agree with it and it may not be for you. But why wish for them to lose their homes? Their cars? They have families same as you. I could go on but there’s no point. I’ve argued this many times on here. It does no good.

So fire them all because you THINK their work is subpar based on your interaction with the customer service department which is not union? Wow.

Because I've seen the love displayed by union workers toward their coworkers who cross the picket line. Framed up all I need to know about unions and those who support them.

Fire them all for abandoning their positions. If they want a different pay level approach the supervisor of the department you are in and ask for such. If he denies leave and find a job that pays what you want to make or up your performance until it warrants the amount you think you are worth. A boycott to me is a waste of everyone's time and simply an effort to coerce a company to work for its employees.

They were out this morning again. The avg weight of them is about 325# maybe 5’9” height. Don’t look too good when you’re appearance is a slob with shirttail untucked and crocs on holding a sign by the road. Looks to me like AT&T is getting the shaft with lack of performance from the guys

You have crossed the line now with that comment about wearing crocs.

You think those union members agreed to accept a job and provide work for an agreed compensation when they went to work there. If they changed their mind they should go find another job

Who said this was about pay? We almost went on strike last year and not one ounce of our problems had anything to do with pay. You are assuming you know why they are having a boycott. But strikes do solve issues the employees have. It’s unfortunate it has to go that way. But it works

Some of y’all need the shut your mouths about something you know absolutely nothing about. A lot of those guys are losing their jobs here in a couple of months. Most have been loyal to company for 15-20 years and are getting laid off. Don’t be so quick to judge just because they walked out.
I for one am not for a union but with that said if it wasn’t for unions years ago a lot of us wouldn’t get paid what we get paid and have the great benefits we have today.

You think they are never deserving of any kind of improvement. Unfortunately big business isn’t as good to their employees as you seem to be. So using your logic let’s say they hired on in 1992 making $15 an hour with one week of vacation and no 401k or any other benefits. So they should work for that their whole career and never expect any raises or improvements? But again, a lot of people saying this strike is about money. No one knows. I do know you can’t go on strike strictly on monetary issues. It has to be unfair labor practices.

Well said. Most here would just say oh well they deserve to lose their job. Strictly because they are union people. Doesn’t matter that they are now 50 years old and have given their whole life to that company. But these are some of the same guys who claim to be good Christian people.

Unfortunately people loose their jobs everyday, I don’t wish anything bad for anyone and don’t think they deserve anything worse because they are in a union. BUT
How many have lost a job because of the position the unions put the company in?
Why should reality not be an option just because they pay union dues?
Is it impossible for someone to find a job at 50?
Did the company pay them enough over the span of their careers for the life they “gave” to keep them there.
Did they get a written guarantee when they were hired giving them a lifetime job under their conditions.

I don’t care if it’s about money or bathroom time. You take a job it means you had an agreement, if you’re there 10,20,30 years and nothing improves based on your value as an employee you either suck or should have been looking a long time ago.

I don’t care if it’s me or at&t. We both need help fulfilling our obligations to a customer, if we don’t, we lose customers and go away. Neither of us are the only game in town, someone is supplying that service. If I don’t pay people enough to have good employees, the competition will. When I don’t have enough help to meet my obligations, the competition will. When my competition does a better job than I do, I’m eventually going to change or go away. If the unions hold me hostage and make it to expensive for me to run a successful business, I go away.

Companies are held hostage and put out of business by unions forcing them to deal with sub-par employees being not only kept on the payroll but over paid significantly on a regular basis.

Unions are why jobs started going overseas in the first place but everyone wants to blame BIG Business wanting more profits when actually they probably just wanted to keep some profits and be competitive

Unions served a purpose for a time and then very quickly employees who just had a job started thinking they had more rights than the people who took life changing risk and made huge investment
To start a business

You say union is why many of us make what we do and hell yeah that’s true, it’s also why a pickup truck cost $80k, why US Steel can’t compete and laid 1000’s of people off, why Toyota sells a better American made truck for more money, Why more Fords are built in Mexico, More Chevrolet’s are built in Canada, why Chicago Steel no longer exist, why TVs are made in China and completely why America has become more dependent on foreign goods and services

Article says many of these striking employees getting $122-$134k total compensation a year. If that’s true quit yer bitching and get back to work.

Fullthrottle and JustHunt are correct. This isn't all about pay. Some of these guys striking have never missed a day of work in over 20 years, and the lay off could potentially screw up their retirement and benefits. It's not 100% about pay and the union employees wanting to stick to the ''man'' to get a higher hourly rate.

It amazes me that every time a union thread pops up on this site, multiple people reply with, ''well if they don't like it get another job''. GO search indeed, zip recruiter, career builder, monster, any job site. OVER 90% of the jobs within a 100 mile radius OF ANY CITY YOU RANDOMLY PICK in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and most of Georgia have an average hourly rate of 9.33 per hour.

It's not as simple as finding another job because there aren't many ''other'' jobs that will pay a mortgage, pay a car payment, pay for a families needs, and include a retirement plan anywhere in AMERICA, much less in the south.

bulldoodoo. McDonald’s and Dollar General pay more than 9.33 an hour if you’re worth a damn

I saw a sign at target yesterday said hiring cashiers starting at $12.35.

THE UNION is exactly why AT&T is laying off just like every steel mill, car maker, brick factory, sock factory, and rubber plant in America has and will continue to.
