Took my wife for a colonoscopy Monday. She was in shear damn misery for 24 hours prior, during the prep phase. And then we spent 5 DAMN HOURS AT THE FRIGGING HOSPITAL!!! AIN'T NO WAY I'M DOING THAT! I had my first colonoscopy in 2012 at 48 years old, after my dad needlessly died from colon cancer. He had Outback's completely incorrect viewpoint, and paid for it with his life. Gone way too soon at 72 years old. My cancer was advanced enough at age 48 that they had to do a resection of my colon to get all the cancer. Spent 6 days in the hospital after a 7 hour surgery. I've had a few since then, all clear, and will have them as needed for the rest of my life. I won't miss a scheduled colonoscopy, and I suggest that the rest of you don't either. Not saying the prep is fun, but it's not much worse than a bad case of diarrhea, and the sleep while it is going on is the best you will ever have. Or, you can decide that you have already lived enough and that the next 20 years doesn't really matter and not go. Your choice.
