Figure out the 5 things people in your area don't want to do around their homes, especially in summer. That might include mowing, weeding flower beds, cleaning gutters, being a handyman or whatever.

Figure out the two or three things you can do well out of those five, and if it doesn't cost you much money for tools-equipment or other stuff, even better. See what your competition is on those things. Pick one and start your side business.

I see a ton of yard cutting folks in our neighborhood almost year-round. They come and go like fireflies. The ones I most often see have professional gear, clean trucks and trailers, crews that aren't dressed like homeless people and are visible in bright (like, neon) shirts, and they do a great job. The yards look great, gates are closed, edges look great, and the clippings are not blown out into the street -- as if that makes them magically disappear.
