Eyewall wobble.

Natural phenomenon.

These things tend to wobble. One little bounce won’t affect the course

Round ‘bout there

There may be little to nothing left of Grand Bahama after being ground down for 15+ hours.

For those of us not dialed in on wather stuff, what's the key to making this think joggle northish? The front pushing through the Southeast or the Gulf Stream, or both?

That's a guarantee given what's been happening for 24 or more hours.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Yeah bad deal. I hope it doesn't change course. The weather gurus are still saying it's going to head North, but I don't remember them predicting it would stall out for hours & hours either

There's a good bit of shear happening just north of the storm. You can see it in the loop posted above. The outer bands are getting torn apart on the west side of the peninsula and north of the storm on the Atlantic side. I figure by in the morning it'll be headed NNE. I can't imagine how long the night will seem in the Bahamas.

I heard someone say that if it sits in one spot for hours then that is a good thing. It should suck up all the surface hot water and then start pulling cooler water up towards the surface. The last radar shots I saw look like it is slowly weakening.

I just read something about that from a meteorologist. He said normally, that would be the case. But, the area where Dorian is just sitting is actually very shallow water, so there's not cooler water from down deep to draw up into the thing and weaken her. It's simply weakening from not being completely over water.

That is the great thing about phone alerts; get woken up about a storm that has absolutely no impact
on you in your current location to tell you it has weakend.

Now it is a Cat 2, don't know what it was that sucked the power out of it, but I'm glad it did.

I keep my phone on silent at night, wasn't woken up.
