I know you're not liberal, but that's a common refrain among people who try and belittle gun rights. There are lots of scenarios that don't involve Chinooks where the 2nd amendment still helps you.

IF they try to confiscate and steal our guns, there SHOULD be another civil war. They would have already deemed us to be criminals by their actions, so we should demonstrate the folly of their ignorance.

Other things like extremely short hunting seasons, crazy high license requirements, new taxes, so people will not want to waste time and money on it as well as stupid crazy restrictions on shooting ranges will probably be part of their plan.

Gomer, you and I may cheer for a different school, but we are in complete agreement on these issues.

I think there will be a point to where the government won't have to forcefully take them. As unconstitutional as it may be, they will come and threaten to take you to prison for not following the new "Law" and will make you chose between your guns and your family!! Are you going to have a shoot out with them in your front yard?? no!! Are you going to let them take you to prison for not obeying new gun laws and being labeled as a domestic terrorist???? Then how do you support and protect your family??? I think the will make you choose and of course we will all choose our family.

I would never assume that the majority of LEOs or military would be on the side of a government that would attempt a coup d'état of this magnitude. Not yet, anyway.

I think there would be a surprising number that would. I've mentioned before in similar threads, I personally know more than a few current/retired Military/LEO that think you should only be allowed to have guns if you have a military/LEO background. They don't like the "average joe" having access to guns.

Sporting rifles have already been banned before in this country. They didn't let the ban expire until the '90s as I recall.

I am not doubting your expereince, but I know a lot of current and ex- LEOs and military, and they are all solidly pro 2nd A. Interesting that you know several who are not.

To be transparent here, my view on guns is this: The 2nd Amendment says it all. There should be no background checks ever, no restrictions of any kind, but use a gun in commission of a crime, any crime, and you do 20 years hard time on top of the other penalties. No plea deal, no parole. You should be able to own an automatic weapon if you so choose. And bump stocks....

They added a 2nd Amendment for a reason. Im pretty sure they said it Shall not be infringed.

I feel anyone passing that kind of law...well they need to be the first ones going knocking on doors telling folks they are here for their guns.
