Kind of reminds me of the film "Mud" with Matthew McConaughey in it. Good movie.

Yes it was. It was one of those I didn't care for the first time I watched it, but caught it on a second time and ended up really liking it.

I'm surprised it is 27 acres. I have been on it, it doesn't go under water twice a month, maybe 2-4 times a year when the river floods.
I hooked a drowning victim between the Lock Eight boat landing and the island once. I handed him off to the SO and cleared out before he was pulled out of the water. Eight men and a dead deer in a 16 foot jon boat is too much to stay afloat.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
