Coosa, have you taken guests in the past? Have you sat together or apart? Yes I have take guests every time I've been. You can take one guest and they can sit alone wherever they want to as long as it is within your section boundaries.

Take a fourwheeler if you've got it too. IF it rains it gets bad sloppy down there and it's a PITA getting around in a truck. Dang, guess my Honda Civic isn’t gonna cut it. You can take the 4 wheeler off the roads?

That place is loaded with deer. Get there as early as you can too because navigating the roads in the dark can be a bit tricky. The roads are somewhat difficult to follow and some roads on the map are no longer in service. We were late getting in last year due to this. We hunted both youth hunts last year. I got drawn for one and my buddy got drawn so we were each other's guest. First hunt his son shot a doe. Second time we went up was right before the rut and I took a buddy of mine's kid who had never hunted. He missed a fine 8 point that morning but then shot 2 does and a 6 point on a green field between noon and dark that afternoon. If you have green patches on your section you will for sure see deer. I believe we had 12 or 13 deer on the plot we were on at one time last year. Good luck! One tip on that as far as navigating the roads go. Get on OnX maps and put a line down on the road that you need to go in and out of and be sure to save it as an offline map. Then you can just pull the map up and stay on the line all the way in.

What's the best place to stay for that hunt? A friend of mine drew section #3 for Jan. 30 hunt. We’ve always stayed at the best western in Jackson. But I think we’ll be camping at the check station on the SOA this go round.

I'm in section 7 for Jan 16-19. Sounds like it will be a great time as long as the weather cooperates. So, BayedUp, I might be needed an update after your hunt. I'm planning on driving down for next weekend's scouting.

I'm planning on driving down for next weekend's scouting. I’m planning on going next weekend also. I’m gonna have my 6 year old daughter so we are gonna keep the hunting pretty simple and hunt the food plot in the evening and try to find a decent morning spot that is some what easy to get to.

I'll most likely have my wife with me next weekend for scouting.Since my hunt is in January, I hope they do a good job on the food plots. We will be in a dark green F150 and maybe an old red 4 wheeler. My name is James if you run into us....

Also, from what I am told, St. Stephens Historical Park has campsites and cabins for rent... about 30-40 minutes away.
