Depending on the cut, waygu at the store near the house ranges anywhere from $15-$30 per pound. Contrasted with prime that ranges from $9-$20 per pound.
My steaks get salt and pepper then a quick sear on the BGE until rare to medium rare.

It's funny how people on the one hand love "marbling" while on the other hand say they want "grass fed" beef. Truly grass fed beef is very lean, more like a deer. This is the reason I stopped processing one of our cows every year. I prefer the marbling from a fed out steer. I know people that prefer the grass fed, I just am not one of them. I don't fault anyone for what they enjoy. The grass fed was just to lean for my taste.

True Wagyu beef is found only in Japan. I'm not a big fan of Wikipedia but it has a simple breakdown about the history, cattle strains and how the Kobe beef association protects the names -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobe_beefWhatever is marketed as Wagyu or Kobe beef here in the U.S. is not the same as that in Japan unless it is imported from there. It would be like saying you have a bottle of Champagne from Fort Wayne, Indiana. True Champagne is from the Champagne region of France. Whatever comes from Fort Wayne is sparkling beverage. Champagne, like Kobe, is a culturally protected name and designation, similar to some cheeses in Italy. I've had the beef one of the guys sells here in North Alabama. It's good. I have two ribeyes in my fridge right now to grill tonight. Salt, pepper, fire, eat. That is true. The waygu I had was in a Tokyo

I'm sure its good, but it cant be that much better than a properly prepared premium ribeye, cooked to perfection. I used to think the same thing. The grocery store near my house started carrying waygu. It will change your life and is worth every penny. I've tried it. I have local grass fed beef in my freezer that's much better (and more tender) than that wagu crap. Someone not selling true grass fed beef then.

I have 1 1/2" premium ribeye cut at piggly wiggly. It's so damn tender you can hardly use a knife to cut it. Cooked to medium rare. 2 of these are about $23. In 24 hours its gonna be in the toilet just like the high dollar steaks. But then again, we love the chuckeye steaks. Some people are going to buy high dollar stuff and justify it any way they can. It takes me about 5 minutes to eat a steak, damn if i'm paying $50-$100 for it. Especially when its gonna end up in the same place. I may try tjis this weekend. Ours dont have usda prime but they do have dry aged they slice right off the roast

If I can cook a pair of mouth watering delicious steak's for $23, why the hell would I spend $100? Trust me, I enjoy the steaks I cook, all the way down, for a lot less money. I'll spend that money on something that i'll enjoy for more than 5 minutes. You want to flush $75 down a toilet, go right ahead. I was taught to be responsible with my money.

The Waygu that everyone is saying they've had in the US goes by the industry name "Wangus". Its not actually waygu or kobe. Heres an article I refer folks too when they tell me they've had waygu that can explain it better than I can. https://www.bonappetit.com/entertaining-style/trends-news/article/kobe-wagyu-steak-mythsTo eat Waygu in the US, you wont do it anywhere in the south and you will probably be waitlisted to get in a restuarant that does serve the real deal, and you will pay dearly for it.

I like a good steak and for $161 I can buy several.
Sig Sauer, to hell and back reliable.
Whatever suits you just tickles me plum to death.
Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?

I thought Wagyu is the breed of cattle and Kobe was the specific Wagyu from Kobe, Japan. There is 4 kinds of Wagyu from Japan and also Australian Wagyu. Kinda like Red Angus and Black Angus. There’s a local Dr that raises Wagyu/Charolais cross. They sell the beef at several locations around here. https://gyulais.com/about/

I’ve read all the discussions here about different cuts of beef, but the most delicious meat I’ve ever eaten is Gemsbok backstraps cooked over a Mopane fire. It’s even better if it’s a Gemsbok I’ve shot myself. I’ve hunted with the same Professional Hunter in Namibia five times, and he lets me shoot “Ration” Gemsbok to feed his workers and for camp meat, no charge. Occasionally I’ll shoot one to feed people in his church or for donation to a local Himba orphanage. I’ve eaten at all the top steakhouses in Chicago, and Gemsbok backstraps put them all to shame.
