Are they paying gas on both options? they way that usually works is they pay him .58 cents a mile to use his vehicle or he takes a company truck and most places issue you a company credit card to keep it full and cover maintenance. you dont pay anything out of pocket or receive anything extra for a company truck.

Does it have to be a truck? I agree with one person above if you can find a cheap dependable good on gas car and drive the hell out of it and pocket the extra $

I suppose its possible but id assume the mileage you would be paid would be significantly less.

Average 300mi/day x 5days/week = 1500mi x $.56 = $840.00 x4weeks in a month = $3360.00/month Subtract $50.00/day youll put in the gas tank and you have $2360.00/ month left Hard for me to believe all you fellas would turn down $2360.00 a month just so you can drive another mans truck. You could buy you a brand new work truck and one to keep at home and have a good bit left over at that rate. Is my math right, or am I missing something? yes you arent figuring in what your monthly payments, insurance, maintenance ( Tires youd need about twice a year, Oil changes every 3 weeks, tune ups, breakdowns, etc...) actual cost of gas to drive those miles plus what you do when your personal vehicle does breakdown rentals aren't cheap. not worth the headache to do all that maintenance on my time IMO.

Also have to remember tax would come out of that i would believe. That could be a deal breaker if changed my tax bracket.

Are they paying gas on both options? No company will pay gas AND mileage. Wanna bet? I'll say this, in over 40 years of working in telecom, being employed with numerous companies/contractors, where vehicle options have been/currently are per this discussion I have never been offered nor heard of the option to get mileage AND a gas card or even a gas allowance. This is my personal experience working in several states over the years.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Yes, since he is using it for work, and driving that many miles, insurance will most likely be more than if it was for just personal use. Plus, the company may require a minimum amount of coverage, I've had this happen, and it will cost you more.
