I’m planning to get in on the Black Warrior B-side early gun hunt this weekend (Nov8-10). Does anybody have input on why the forest service is not giving out permits until 5AM- the day of the hunt? Also, have any of you bow-hunters seen much deer activity as in pre-rut yet? If you hunt that area with the green fields be ready for about 45 bubbas to walk into it after daylight, no mater if you have a note up or not. Honestly there's probably already someone camped out there right now and I'm not even joking. This early gun hunt is one of the most crowded public land hunts I've ever seen. I don't know why they wait till 0500 to hand out the permits, that gives you no time to get to your spot. Just plan on hunting the walk in because it usually takes a couple of hours to get to where the hunting is good.
