Any of you guys have kids that have experienced this?

Woke up this morning to my 1 year old daughter having a seizure. She was crying and then all of the sudden the crying sounded weird. Somehow I knew what was happening immediately (as far as it being a seizure) and ran to her room and crib. Called 911 and while paramedics were on the way she turned blue. Absolutely terrifying, went to the ER and everything is fine now. It's just a seizure caused by a sudden spike in temperature and not a big deal but daggum that may have been the scariest thing I've experienced. We got out *relatively* fast, and back home taking a nice long and needed nap.

Apparently they are pretty common but I never heard of it (maybe they talked about it at some parenting class, who knows).

Never heard of it but I sure do hope that it doesn’t happen again.

My five year old started having seizures about two years ago. I think he has had about 7 in the span. He actually had one about 3 weeks ago while I was in the deer stand. I have never climbed down a tree so fast when my wife called. It is heart-breaking watching them go through it. So far, they haven’t been able to identify what the cause is, so we (doctors included) are hoping it is something he will grow out of. All have happened while he is sleeping or going to sleep. And most have been during a sickness which lowers his threshold for them. Especially a fever. So I know what you are going through Jono. Hopefully this was just a isolated incident for her and you guys never have to go through it again. Glad she is okay man.

Run on it a good bit. Being common doesn't make you feel at ease, as a parent, while it's happening though.

Sorry you and Jordan had to endure that. I would have been no bueno for the rest of the day.

Yes, when my son was about two or three, he was running a fever. He was fussing and I picked him up out of his crib, he was burning up, took his temp, fever about 109, starting seizures, turned solid blue. The hospital was about 20 minutes from the house, we made it in ten. Apparently when we are babies we can take a high temperature that would fry our brains as an adult, seizures are one mechanism They kept him overnight to make sure it wasn't meningitis, he is 37 now, but I will never ever forget that day.

That's scary praying it doesn't happen again

My youngest granddaughter had them when she was a toddler and on until she was about 5. Several scary times and a couple of taps to ER. She's 8 now and can't slow her down.

Just be sure to keep her close to you when she has a fever, no matter how minor, so you can respond and bring her out of the seizure. Talking to Averie and calling her by her name/caressing her little face, etc really seemed to help her overcome and come out of it.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

My oldest had a couple many moons ago. Scary times for sure. Keep her close on nights when she is not feeling good. Mine only had them that one night. She has graduated with degrees and applying for medical schools now. Poor thing looks like me but has her mommas brains.

My daughter had 3 or 4 in her preschool years with a high fever. Scary times. She grew out of it by 5 or so. She is 16 now and healthy.

Had a friend or two that's experienced it with their kids. Does sound terrifying to me. Glad y'all are back home and resting.

Any clue on the sudden spike in fever?

My parents said I had scarlet fever at a very early age and seized. Don’t remember it but they always had a spooked look when they spoke of it.

For you guys and children that have experienced this - my thoughts and prayers. I cannot imagine the fear and panic of seeing your child experience one.

My youngest son has had two. He was 2 when we brought him home from India. 3.5 now and has not had one in 6 months. My wife keep him anti seizure meds in her purse in case. Hopefully he grows out of them and does not have anymore. He had several other issues at the time from lack of nutrition and proper medical care. It will scare the mess out of you for sure.

She has an ear infection. Something that sucks, but seems pretty normal. She had a fever yesterday but it wasn't anything major.

Hopefully won't happen again, but at least we know what it is now.
