Anytime I need a referral to a specialist, I ask my primary doctor who he would go to if it were him? He hasn't steered me wrong yet. That’s an awful plan for some people because a lot of primary care doctors don’t know chit except the name of someone they went to med school with. There are some surgeons out there that are less than stellar.....they get referrals from primary care physicians. Who should they ask? A deer hunting message board? You damn right to ask here!!! No matter what you ask here, someone WILL know the answer. No other forum has the diversity of knowledge as Aldeer. IMO, of course.

I had a need for the same advice a few weeks ago and I have a buddy who knows this space... he said he would not go to Hadley and my friend has a bad opinion of him. He said Dr. Picket is very good. He also said that primary care docs don't know chit when it comes to who's a good surgeon. He said that Dr. Tao in H'ville is very good too.
Want to know who's good? Ask the nurses and medical device reps that are in surgery with the docs. Who is your buddy? PM if you don’t want to post

The key part was who would my primary doctor go to if he had the same issue. I'm pretty sure he would go to who he thinks is the best, not his drunken med school frat brother. No sir, I didn’t miss it, but I might have wrongly assumed that a primary care physician would refer his/her patients to someone other than who they would see theirself
