BIG thank you to metalmuncher for posting pics! Fayette Co. Christmas buck! His neck is swollen, tarsal glands are really dark and he has that musty funky smell coming in strong. Came into a hardwood bottom with a Ridge on both sides and a Ridge/hill behind me. I was set up in a tree about 1/2 way down that ridge. Several rubs in the area didn’t find any scrapes. Small creek runs through the bottom between the two ridges. He came off the right Ridge and walked parallel to the creek. Somewhat thick in there down by the creek. I saw an opening he was headed to and got ready. He stopped just shy of opening, but I didn’t know that because my eye is looking through the scope. After what seemed like forever I took my eye off the scope and brought the rifle back down. He finally started walking again and this time he made it the opening I shot and he flinched his shoulder a little, but tore out of there. No back leg kick but I noticed his tail was tucked. 308 shooting 150 grain and he was about 80 yards away. Shooting extreme points. I climbed down and went to the spot (opening next to the creek where he was when I shot. No blood no hair just disturbed leaves where he had been. I thought I heard him crash so I made my way to the last place I saw him before he went into a pine thicket. Soft dirt around the creek that he jumped showed me his tracks, but still no blood. I walked back and forth trying to find any sign of a hit. Finally after about 30 yards I found a few small specs of blood I knew then I had hit him, but it was seriously little specs and drops. I marked the bloods drops I’d found and started trying to follow it drop by drop. He was on a deer trail which was a good thing, but it came into other deer trails. I’d almost decided to back out and maybe call in Help thinking maybe get a dog in here. I was so focused on finding blood, that, and I had a hat on that I didn’t look up and scan in front of me. When I stopped looking at the ground and picked my head I find the buck about ten feet in front of me. He only went about 70-80 yards, but didn’t bleed much at all. When I opened him up to field dress him I found the blood had collected in the chest cavity with no exit wound. I did hit a little forward on the shot, my fault, I must have pulled the shot! Just still excited! My biggest buck in 8 years
NOW is the time for all GOOD men to come to the aid of their country.

I bet that buck has been on SS and Medicare for years already.
