A old boss of mine got attacked by a bobcat while hunting on the ground one time. It came up behind him and he didnt hear him and have time to react until the cat tried to bite him. He killed the cat and said it only had 2 teeth left in its mouth. Thing was old and hungry.

I could have thrown a rock and hit this one, but I never heard it.

I had one slip up behind me last year while sitting in my tree seat. I pulled up my phone to check the time and he bolted. The second I got my head around all I could see was a blur of his back half diving into the thick stuff. He was about 10yds. If I hadn’t pulled my phone up I don’t know if he would’ve figured out what I was before he pounced or not. I never heard him make a sound when he was behind me.

My Brother was hunting in a shooting house in Sumter co a few years ago. The House sat on the ground and had no back door. So he is sitting in a chair dipping skoal enjoying his hunt when he looks down and sees a bobcat head underneath his chair. He was not hurt but we heard him hollering a good half mile away.
