For our 15 year anniversary, the wife wants to go on a cruise. I am thinking 5-7 day cruise. Any pointers? We can easily drive to Mobile or New Orleans vs flying to Orlando. We are very flexible on dates, May time frame. Any pointers.

I should have added we got married on a cruise. I could care less about the the Bahamas and being assigned a armed guard in Belize was a tad much. We loved the ruins in Progresso.

Rule number one, always plan a vacation when you can get your spouse in the least amount of clothes.

I know it's not what you asked, but have you considered an all inclusive resort? You still get all of the food and/or booze you want in a gorgeous setting without a lot of the drawbacks of a cruise. I have not but since you and SBS have mentioned it, I will. Any recommendations? We do not drink does that make a difference in inclusive resort? I am not a lay in the sun all day guy.

An all inclusive is definitely more fun with alcohol, but you can still get all the incredible food and non-alcoholic beverages you want. We went to a boutique resort for our honeymoon a couple years ago called Bahia Principe Samana in the Dominican. The food was all delicious, but the Brazilian steakhouse was awesome. I’ve also been to The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana and it’s was awesome. They had 6 or 7 different restaurants just for dinner.

Our two oldest kids went to Ochos Rios, Jamaica for their honeymoons and really enjoyed it. In fact, our son-in-law (jwyatt) is a member here and could probably answer any questions you might have if you have interest in going there. I know that he and our daughter went on various excursions while there. It really did look like a great vacation from all the pictures I have seen.

If you can wait until Summertime and fly to Seattle, do an Alaskan Cruise. Head and shoulders more fun. Even on days when you are too far from the shore to see scenery, you will see whales in the ocean compared to days of nothing but water in between ports with a Caribbean cruise.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

All inclusive is our favorite way to travel. Our favorite so far has been The Beloved in Playa Mujeres. I have stayed at 3 different resorts in Playa Mujeres and liked them all. A good way to get an overview and good prices is to check out https://www.cheapcaribbean.com/ They don't have all of the chains, but most of them. Another one we really liked is Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica. If you are a scuba diver, it's included in the price.

If you can wait until Summertime and fly to Seattle, do an Alaskan Cruise. . My best friend lives in Palmer AK and has a plane. No need for a cruise. ![smile smile](/forum/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif)

We are very flexible on dates, May time frame. Any pointers. Any Pointers? Yeah... Book an all inclusive resort in Jamaica instead. Much more fun, less hassle, free booze, nice relaxed atmosphere. I've been on a few, but I will never go on a cruise again. Who wants to be cooped up on a boat with a mass of humanity? We now almost always go on free style vacations like the last time we went to the BVI. Just make accommodations, book a flight, rent a car or boat or both and wing it. However I will do another all-inclusive.
