Missouri State in Springfield sold whatever slice of its soul that it has and hired Bobby Petrino as head coach.

I'd love to see State's financials and all other totals on this for lost revenue in tickets, concessions, parking, apparel, etc., and the swing of the buyout and hiring. The prior coach was paid $340K to go away through private donations and Petrino is making $250K a year.

That's almost $600K right off the top. Even with the private money for the buyout, that's money that could've ended up at the school in some fashion.

Hiring and firing assistants probably will be about $300,000 or more in total, if not more. Let's just say we're at $1 million.

Updating all media stuff, letterhead, billboards and media to make announcements, signage, that stuff - maybe another $150K

Any legal work (maybe) to do background vetting, checks, travel expenses to meet, misc. - let's say another $100K

So a small university in a small league has shelled out maybe $1.3 million or so +/- to hire a coach with a questionable background on the college and pro levels.

Imagine that kind of money at FSU with Jimbo and then Willie. Or if Auburn whacked Gus and his crew. Or even at Mississippi State, firing Mooorhead and his guys since MSU isn't flush with a Brinks account.

Lot of money, lot of business. When the SEC gets its new TV deal and the billions more, it's only going to intensify.
