I have always wanted one, thought I would pick one up for a hundred or less. Probably could have ten or more years ago. Anyone priced one lately, they not cheap.

I have seen the Harbor Freight anvils and I am sure they have their place. I have always wanted an old heavy one. Don’t really need one and should probably eliminate it from my bucket list.

The knifemakers call the Harbor Freight offerings ASOs (Anvil Shaped Objects). The aren't property hardened to do the things an anvil is supposed to do.

Do you mean anvils have a purpose other that’s dropping on roadrunners?

Not if folks know anything about them. Typical price now is $3 per pound for awful condition, up to $10 per pound for good ones.

I have a harbor Freight style one. Take it to a local welding shop and have them weld a piece of mild steel to the top of it with a partial penetration weld and you will have a decent smaller anvil.

Yep. My Grandfather picked up a few for $85 bucks a piece last week. The old black guy had a bunch of old stuff for sale....

Got a coworker that had a new one sent from Germany. Don’t know how much it weighed but it was big and he paid over $3k for it.

Bid on some at an auction. They went out of my price range fast!
