This is one of the hardest things I’ve read in a while. This was written by a friend and former coworker. He retired out of the Army after 28 years and saw his fair share of combat in Afghanistan. I’m sure if anyone is prepared mentally for this, it’s him.

Geez that’s horrible. Reminds me of the wreck I drove up on minutes after it happened a few years ago. 2 people burned in that vehicle. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

That's horrible. That's the kind of thing that you never forget and it should remind everyone that reads it of how precious and fleeting our life here can be.

I came on a wreck at Boligee where an 18 wheeler hit the main bridge support dead on. I managed to get an arm in to his neck...no pulse. Mangled. Then I saw his brain laying on the grass 10 feet in front of the truck. Damn.
A guy stops IN THE ROAD IN THE SOUTHBOUND LANE, gets out and starts running that mouth. Wants to know if the driver is dead, how do I know if he's dead, am I a doctor, a paramedic ? All the whole dancing around. I tell him he is dead and if he steps on the guys brains I am going to put his annoying ass in jail. He sees the brains and starts to throw up. Aw hell no, I grab his neck and throw him towards his car and tell him to get the hell off my wreck scene. Whats the matter with folks???

Why stop if you aren't going to try to help ? Lip service never helped anyone. from the photos it appears one must have been going the wrong way to hit head on.

I’ve seen some rough wrecks lately. I had a guy pinned in a vehicle and had to watch him burn alive... that’s a scream that you will never unhear. Seen people dismembered from the waist after being hit by vehicles etc etc. Y’all be careful out there driving, it’s easy to get complacent with day to day. Just remember speed kills. Good on your friend for jumping in there and trying to do something. Most folks are the type to sit and watch.

I've helped a few people over the years but all of them were conscious, moving and asking for help. If they're not moving, I dont know what I would exa tly. Dont want to move someone and finish breaking their neck or back. Have a damn lawyer trying to take everything you have just because you were trying to help. It's a personal call imo.

From what I’ve gathered from some other post he’s put up, the truck on fire is the one that crossed the median and collided with the truck that has the trailer facing the camera. The man who cross the median is the one that died.

I can’t think of a more horrendous way to go. That burning cab is a small preview of hell. It puts it into perspective of just how important it is to know Christ as your personal savior. We never know when disaster will strike.

From the arm chair quarterback position, I say get the guy out broken neck or not. He at least has a chance to live. He’s not making it through that burning cab.

If he hadn't hit another truck, he could have wiped out several cars killing many more people.

If a vehicle is on fire then that would be sure enough death, you have every right to try and get the individual out of the vehicle whether they are conscious or not. It’s all how you articulate why you felt the need to move the individual.
