It was just common sense. China is in shutdown mode and they make all the world's stuff. If stuff aint being made it aint getting sold and nobody is making money.

I bought EEM, FXI, and SPY puts on Friday before the close. Today was a major Green Day for me. I bought a few calls today with paper money on several stocks, as soon as this virus stuff is tampered the market will shoot back up! Don't know if I'm quite brave enough to use real money yet

Don't know if I'm quite brave enough to use real money yet That is smart. Especially if you aren’t familiar with the options market. Things will start clicking once you get the hang of the price action, implied volatility, and the Greeks. You will be able to manage your trades and risk/reward much better. Good luck!

The market goes up and the market goes down, but it always goes up more than it goes down. As long as you are steadily (Weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) buying stock index funds you are practicing "Dollar Cost Averaging." And as long as you are in it for the long haul, you are going to come out on top. Simple as that. Dollar Cost Averaging explained... https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/investing/dollar-cost-averaging-2/Stop worrying about dips in the market. I'm investing over 1/5th of my pre-tax income in the market and I ain't skeered.

I agree the question is at what age do you start transitioning away from stocks and into bonds or something less volatile, and at what percentage of each as you reach retirement and through your retirement years.
If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.

I'm 52 and and slowly moving money to bonds and cash. All my 401 k contributions and match are curremtly going into bonds and I've been moving other money into a fidelity asset management fund. I'd like to get to a 50/50 split in a couple years. I'm a little heavey in tech and semiconductors so I need to balance out that risk.
