I've had both. I liked the upright better, but with kids they wouldn't shut the door good and had everything thaw and rot twice. Nasty as hell. had this happen not long ago. It sucks Don't they make an alarm for curing such problems now days? Would be a great idea even if you don't have kids!

Would be a great idea even if you don't have kids! one we bought 6 or 7 years ago came with an alarm installed on it if the door is open more than a couple minutes it makes a beeping sound it has saved some food more than once due to kids
