I'm in the market for another freezer. My old chest type still works but is rusting on the outside edge on the bottom. It's around 30 years old. Never had an upright one but the thought of being able to find what your looking for instead of digging for it appeals to me.
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

I have an upright that must be 20 years old and has spent half of its life in a dirt floor shed (freezer is set on landscape timbers) that just keeps on ticking. When it dies, ill honor it in my memories. Chest freezers are the junk drawer of frozen foods.

I have an upright my parents bought in 1981. They gave it to me when they moved and it is still doing great. They are on their 3rd chest freezer since giving it to me. Newer is not always better.

Upright is all we'll have at the house now. Crap just gets lost in the chest freezers lol
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

We got rid of our chest freezer and have a upright now and like it a lot better.

I had this decision last year and went with upright as well

My 20+ year old upright is still working fine. The thing that makes them work so long is that the door dont get opened often.

I had a chest go out 4 years ago or so and bought an upright to replace it. Thinking I need to replace my remaining chest freezer with an upright. There's no comparison.

I've had both. I liked the upright better, but with kids they wouldn't shut the door good and had everything thaw and rot twice. Nasty as hell. had this happen not long ago. It sucks
