I think it's crazy you cant kill but 1 a day......what's it matter if you kill 5 in 45 days or 1?!

Surely that doesnt really need explaining... but they dont expect you to kill 5. And with the 1 a day limit they are "preventing" you from wiping out that early season bachelor flock.

Turkeys be damned.

Apparently i'm confused. Turkey season has come in the 15th of March my entire adult 56 y/o life, not the 20th, and opening day of gun deer season comes in the Saturday before Thanksgiving, not Friday. I do remember it used to come in on a certain date, back in the day, but they moved it to Saturday because so many kids were missing school. For my area turkey is the 21st of March.

Still doesn't matter.....5 dead turkeys is 5 dead turkeys......it doesn't make a difference if you whipe out a early season bachelor flock or kill them over the 45 days......makes zero sense

I guess you dont understand what im saying. They do not WANT or EXPECT you to kill 5.

Chances are for the average turkey hunter. He is only going to hunt 8 or 10 days a year, if they allow him multiple birds a day, odds are he would kill more birds in a season than if he can only kill 1 a day with 8 or 10 days to hunt.

And to add on to that, to them it does make a difference WHEN the male birds are harvested. That's why you have a later season start date this year. It all plays in to their "theory".

I'm 51 and I clearly remember the Friday opener of deer season and the March 20 turkey season.
I also remember the fall turkey season.

We still have a fall turkey season where I live in Talladega county. I guess I just don't remember it.

Shouldn't have to buy a permit to hunt any animal over feed. Heck, I've hunted turkeys over peanut fields, chufas plots, and green fields for years. Doesn't make me a better or worse hunter for hunting over these bait food sources.

Not sure I follow you. Are you saying you think it should be ok to sit and shoot turkeys over a pile of corn?

Biological, why not?

With the hog numbers exploding around our club, a turkey better eat quick if he wants corn for lunch.
