Hey guys I just read this article where the driver of the boat got 30 years for each count of reckless murder. He’ll probably do the time for each count concurrently. Looks like justice is served. Last year was deadly, so to all the boaters out there: stay safe and watch out for drunk idiots.

He did wrong, but was a stand up guy in the end and accepted his punishment without furthering the trauma for the family. When I first read the tag line however, I thought he was getting the Death Penalty, which I thought was a bit extreme for the case.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

So was he drunk or just had alcohol on his breath? Was the collision his fault or just cause he’s been drinking? I read the articles and it didn’t really say. Bad deal though

Bad deal though The story I remember was he was really drunk and he plowed into an anchored boat after the fireworks show, killing 2 I'm sure he was traumatized over killing two people that were just having fun but I doubt he took a plea that would put him in prison without evidence, either through a Draeger breath analysis of deep lung air or from blood. God bless him for doing the right thing and protect him in prison. I bet that is not a prayer you would expect to hear from an old police officer very often.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime. I don’t know what his BAC was and alcohol affects everyone differently. He very well may have only been slightly buzzed but he was involved in an accident (his negligence or not) and the law points the finger at him for responsibility.
Driving a vessel is very similar to driving a motorcycle. You may be the best driver out there but there are more idiots driving around completely SOBER endangering everyone, including themselves.
I hate it for all parties involved but man you gotta use better judgement driving a boat at night. There’s just too many extra variables thrown into the equation that could lead to disaster. Kinda like you said there's alot of sober folks more dangerous than a drunk boater.

I generally don't drink on my boat at OBA not because of me but because of all the other fools out there. Just getting in and out of the pass somedays is like a night race at Bristol. It would be my luck to have a few and somebody hit me and I'd be on the hook.

Well I was trying to find how it affects people who drink more than others but couldn't...i know 3 drinks for me ain't nowhere near drunk but if blood content is same I ain't gonna have a beer if i go out to eat

.11 ain’t even really drunk, that’s a buzz. I’m .11 after three beers at 165lbs Ive been breathalyzed before after spending about 4 or 5 hours on the water and downing a 12 pack during that time and blew .07 so Id say .11 is pretty drunk you also have to consider the test results they use in court are after he is arrested and transported to the jail up to 2 hours after his last drink not the field test. if he was still .11 after that amount of time he was pretty drunk.

He made the choice to drink and drive. I have zero tolerance for that anyone who does this. I won't drive even after I have had one beer. ^^this
