Had new carpet put into our office last week. Came in on Saturday to see the finished product and found a few issues. What would cause these?
- carpet feels loose as you walk on it, almost like stepping onto a spongy rug that moves slightly (bad adhesive?) - ripples in the carpet in every room - scratches all over my freshly painted walls and trim (I assume from when they pulled the carpet to the wall, they lifted it up and cut it and scratched my paint all up)
Anybody had an experience like this? Flooring company was based out of Bham

I would have them back out. And don’t pay them until it’s right

it wasnt stretched properly they need to get back out there. scratches are pretty much unavoidable because the bottom of the carpet is rough and has to be laid going up the wall then stretched and trimmed to fit we have never had carpet put in a property and not had to have the painters back to touch up. the wrinkles and loose feeling should not be there ever.

It sounds like it wasnt stretched correctly.
ANYTIME you have carpet installed you HAVE to touch up paint. Period. There is no way to not have some scratches on baseboards.
In both flipping and New construction we ALWAYS have to touch up paint after laying carpet.

You do NOT remove baseboards on a carpet install OK? I flip and build houses for a living. I lay carpet and tile. That is crazy. You dont even remove baseboard for tile or wood either . You just remove and put in put in new shoe mould.

I'm just ocd. Couldn't stand to repaint baseboards. Rip em out. Put down flooring, or carpet, install new baseboards. And... As an added piece of advice, never let my wife paint the walls unless you plan to repaint ALL the trim work including baseboards.

Is it glued down over concrete? Sometimes with good glue down commercial carpet, it feels funny walking on at first because the stiffness of the nap. No excuse for wrinkles in newly installed carpet. Another possibility is someone decided it stretch commercial carpet in over residential pad and tack strip which isn't a great idea. Yep

Please please NEVER jam baseboard down tight over previously installed carpet...its a nightmare to remove...without removing the baseboard.. Then remove the damb baseboards!!! Like it should be done!! 😆

We pulled off the rubber cove base before they got started. We had them install new cove base throughout the whole office. There's no excuse. It was a vacant office with a bare concrete floor and they installed the cove base as part of the deal as well. Pretty crappy work IMO

Where the wrinkles puckered up or where they kind of puffy and only slightly noticeable? Both. Some areas were barely noticeable but most of them were really bad. You could see it as soon as you walked in the door.
