I just got back from picking up 20 lbs of ground beef from a local country processor (the same one that we took our sow to for slaughtering and processing). We had very little left and the pickings were slim at the grocery store, so I was very excited to see their announcement on their Facebook page that they would have some at the end of this week.

I would much rather spend our money at the local mom & pop places when I can and now it is more crucial than ever.

If y'all have locally owned restaurants that are offering curb side pick up after calling ahead and placing your order or drive through, please consider doing some business with them. They are the ones who take ads out for the local football programs, donate to little leagues, etc.

Give back if you can.

Agreed.

Bring your growler, the loosened liquor laws means they can fill them up with some tasty draft beer.

All that plus if you have a favorite local retail store chip in and buy a gift certificate or something to show your love. Even if it's only $20 it goes a long way. This week alone my wife's store has sold more in Gift Certificates than merchandise which is just as good for them if not better with the way things are now. Local is best!

20 pounds??? You're an amateur! I wouldn't trouble my local processors for less than a ton! 😆

I buy where I can get the most bang for my buck! Here in South Florida the so called mom and pop shops are very expensive! I am no fan of Wal-Mart but if I can get the things I need from them at a cheaper price I will.

Norris Custom Meats. They have a Florala address, but are about 4 miles off Hwy 55 in the Red Oak community between Lockhart and Andalusia.

Got takeout last night from my favorite local pub; Ragtime Cafe. They are great folks and have been open for over 25 years; our local "Cheers". Sad to walk in to a dark business that is always packed with people having a good time. They said they were trying yo "hang in there" . They certainly could use support from those of you in the area. And don't forget to tip for take-out.

Went to John Hall Store in Cecil, where the Bishop's have a BBQ and lunch business. Didn't need anything, but they are good folks trying to make it work. Ms Mae told me customers were down by 50%. I bought a pizza and two BBQ chicken sandwiches. Food was great and She repeatedly told me thanks for coming in.

Yep! Those folks providing your take out right now are likely the same ones who would be serving your table if you were dining in but they do not have that option now and are losing lots of income from tips. I say this for the restaurants that do not normally have curbside service or drive thru.

Absolutely.
If $5-10 or whatever isn't feasible on a pickup order right now, you should reevaluate your spending and thoughts on humanity.

I spend how I see fit and you should do the same! If I dine in and I get great service, I usually tip at least 25%!

After I left; I felt bad only leaving 20%. I was helped by Alyson; the regular bartender who scores big tips, normally. And, she is the BEST, ever. And; has a new baby.

X2. In normal situations I wouldn’t tip for pick up but with what’s going on now, I will be tipping graciously.
