If you mix diesel with it you are just wasting diesel. Old gas and burnt oil are all you need....
It's all about getting the burnt oil going. If you don't put something with it, I can't get it to light off. If you have some, Old gas works just as good as diesel but like you said, the mixture is more unstable.
