All the Merriams I’ve shot in Montana were during Mule Deer hunts in November. The fall non- resident Turkey Tag was only $50 if already had the Big Game Combo license. Being a Yankee, the cold didn’t bother me at all. In areas lacking roost trees, the turkeys slept on giant circular hay bales- super easy to spot and stalk.
