I don't know how you would get good water to make liquor from around Opelika but maybe there is some limestone around there. You can't make good bourbon without it..... maybe an interpretation of good bourbon but limestone filtered water is a key ingredient. "Limestone" water is just another word for Hard Water. The water from Opelika is actually really soft but if I remember correctly John Emerald adds different things to the water they get directly from the city. Basically adding magnesium and calcium and some other minerals that replicate the hard water from the Kentucky Region.

I can think of at least 3 limestone or former limestone quarry areas within minutes of downtown Opelika. Just saying But the original post was about what bourbon he should get as a gift. Not about the geological attributes of an area in regards to the ability to obtain suitable materials or resources to produce good bourbon. Lets not get derailed here

Well had to go with the Woodford reserve. The liquor store I went to did not have Blantons, buffalo trace or wellers. The woodford reserve is very affordable so that’s nice You can’t go wrong with that. I just picked up a bottle of woodford double oak
