Sounds like it really isn't what he did that angered you but the condescending way he went about handling it, which is understandable.

Clearly we have 3 distinct teams on this topic.

1. Those that hate me now because I had a bad run in with an asshole for a cop and it’s 100% my fault regardless of the actual circumstances.

2. Those that hate the cop because he was an asshole to me before AND after he confirmed who I was. (By the way; to my knowledge there is no way for him to confirm I was the owner by “running me” as he said)

3. Those that don’t think I know my code for my alarm.

That’s just part of him being a dickhead.

I don’t understand why some of y’all can’t see BGH’s issue with the police officer. The LEO was suspicious of BGH once he arrived on the scene as he should have been. He then verified his identification and after that still treated him with suspicion. So much as to ask him why he was at his own property on a Sunday. What am I missing here? That wouldn’t rub you the wrong way after having such appreciation and gratitude for their service?

I would think that when the alarm company contacted the PD, they told them of the incident and they made contact with you and gave them your name. Officer was dispatched there for basically no reason just to make sure everything was ok and found you parked there and ran your name to verify that your info matched the info the alarm company gave. The officer was pissed because he had to respond to nothing and was a total ass to you.

The officer asked the questions before he asked for his ID from what I’m reading. As I said above the officer was dispatched to BGH place for nothing and he was pissed. Hence the statement about him covering his ass. BGH had everything straight with the alarm company. There was no need for the officer to be there.

I like the O’Neal coming out in you. There’s not that many of us left.

Just another thought, maybe his wife just had a miscarriage, maybe his fathers colon cancer flared up again, maybe his mother just got the covid19, maybe he hasn't had an off day in 3 weeks because some others are dealing with covid19 or maybe he just having a bad f--king day. Maybe he was a dickhead I feel certain you have been one in the past and probably will be in the future as we all have and will be one also.

Y'all all making alot of assumptions about what the officer knew or didn't know and when he knew it.. Info that was given , was the OP told him he was the owner, I didn't see anywhere that he verified in any kind a way that the OP was the owner other than OP saying he was. In my mind the questions were asked to satisfy the officers suspicions. So I wan't to know did the OP contact the security company and have them verify who he he was to the officer. Only legit way to do it. No one else but the Security company can do that satisfactorily. If he wants to be mad the security company is who he should be mad at

I also agree, I’ve caught many folks thanks to an alarm.

This is true but one of the first things you learn when becoming a LEO is to not let your home or family issues dictate how you handle yourself on the job. I know not everyone does this. We are to separate our emotions from the job.

Put yourself in the officers shoes, you get dispatched to such and such address , the alarm has went off. That's all you know. It's your job to get to bottom of it, with the info you have. That what the officer did. Sometimes that requires questions and see how people respond and answer them in order to get to the bottom of something.

I take that into consideration with all of my interactions with people on a daily basis. That’s why I was nice the entire time. I can be pissed and not show it.....unlike some folks.
