So I found a new hot spot on my property this weekend. I set up there for the first time Sunday evening and shot a doe. The next afternoon, I had a young buck come in around the same time I killed the doe. He came in and munched on some acorns for a couple minutes before he spotted me and hauled ass outta there blowin' the whole time. My question is should I avoid this area for a few days? What do you do when you get busted in one of your favorite spots? I've heard some people just switch trees while others say to avoid the area all together for a few days ...What do you guys think?

You really don’t have to give the area a rest if you don’t want to. You didn’t get busted by a shooter. If it makes you feel better, move the stand and try hiding it more so that you want get spotted in the tree.

Keep hunting it! I have been busted in the morning and seen deer in the afternoon. If they are there hunt them!

Keep hunting. Getting busted is part of it.

Last weekend I got busted and all heck broke loose for a few minutes. Then things started calming down and deer will continue to move through there.

Remember, deer blow at everything, including other deer, and many deer don't pay attention whatsoever to their idiot friends blowing their heads off.

Maybe move your stand to another tree if it would make you feel better...

I would figure out how he busted me and make some adjustments and stay put.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna set up there this afternoon in a tree w/ a little more cover. Maybe this time I won't get busted...

Well I set up in the same tree, just a little bit higher with some better cover. The same buck came down the same trail at the same exact time except this time I didn't get busted! Hes not quite a shooter but still pretty cool to pattern a bucks movement. I was hoping he was part of a bachelor pack but didn't see any other deer this time. I guess his predictability shows the difference between a young buck and a mature buck. Hopefully I can get on a shooter soon!

Mature bucks are just as predictable, they just take more precaution. Maybe another one will show soon.
