Mattis is right. Our Active Duty Military should never be engaging its own citizens. I could write a book on why this is a bad idea. Trump is handling this situation terribly, he is not leading, he is dividing. Curious as to why Mattis released the statement he did though, and the timing of it. It's strange for sure.

I think it’s ridiculous to attack FJ for making a valid point. Folks on this site we’re tickled pink when DJT appointed Mad dog Mattis and now he is scum To be clear, I never said he was scum or meant to imply it. It just looks bad when You've been on the team and you wait until you are fired to start criticizing your old boss. I think that he is probably a great guy and straight shooter which is why the military way and the political way are not a good marriage. Someone is going to come off not looking good.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Trump doesn't need Mattis and Mattis doesn't need Trump. IMO I didn't see anything particularly wrong with Mattis' statement....Trump just can't take criticism from anyone and will engage in a Twitter war if he feels slighted. Your the President of the USA- getting criticized just comes with the territory.

I agree with Mattis. I don't agree with his delivery. He's got a couple opinions about most things..... just like every other man on this earth. However he is looking more and more like a political hack every time he opens his mouth. I honestly don't know what has been said between him and Trump but he look to be either highly butt hurt about something OR he has figured out he's got a mouth piece that can get him on a couple talk shows and make him some money. I'll be interested to see if he shows up on CNN to discuss his "comments".
Whatever Mattis smarts off about doesn't make me want to vote for Joe Biden in any way. I don't have to like every single thing that Trump does.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.
