I’d be in for some ribeye cuts and a lil beef burger. But we primarily use venison for burger. But def would go in with others to split cost on steaks

Beef normally dresses around 60%-65% of live weight depending o breed. It works out to $4.63 per lb for everything. Should be close to 540 lbs of meat per side.

Yep and it's just gonna get higher. They're at the processor now. One calf pinned my foot against a post and I fell off the chute and landed flat on my back right behind the ass end of one steer. My feet were resting on his ass and my back was flat on the ground. I'm so very thankful he didn't back up or I'd be in a mess. The Brickyard came highly recommended and it's a nice, clean smelling place, but Lawd have mercy they are high as a cats back on processing and add upcharges for everything. Since I'm the one paying the processing fees, I'm gonna get skint on this little venture. I don't see me repeating this project again. I'll just raise one for me.

Next time give the Weavers in Hartselle a try. They have done excellent, honest work for me in the past.

I have a 1/2 hanging there now, I’ve heard they do as good on beef as they do deer.

I have. I don’t care for their process. You don’t get your animal back.

I have had a few pigs done with the weavers, always felt like they treated me fair. It appeared I got my pigs back every time, size and meat types. I had ham pigs, not a lot of bacon on them and it worked out that way.

I Probly shoulda stated on deer anyway. I’m sure with cows and pigs they’ll be just fine.

I think weavers has the best specialty meats of anywhere ive took a deer(i havent been everywhere). The only bad deermeat I ever got from them was some bad ground and I chalked that up to a bad batch of fat, they made it up. No you dont get your deer back if its any specialty meat or ground. I bought a 1/4 beef a friend of mine from church took there, I was not impressed especially with the yeild. I took a hog up there, the yeild was ok, the meat was ok, but far from great, could have been a bad pig, I dont know. Took another hog to Brothers in hanceville, it was better in yeild and just overall quality, might have been a better pig I dont know. Brothers also does a fantastic job cutting up a deer, specialty meats not so much.
