Slowing the spread is a very bad idea. It allows it to mutate and makes things worse rather than better.

Slowing the spread (to the point where it would be statistically significant) of this particular virus would be impossible without an ebola type response.

Well stated.

There is overwhelming scientific data that says using masks like 99% of the ones seen in public is about as effective as using chain-link fencing as a mosquito net....

And there is overwhelming scientific data that contradicts this

You have to realize at this point - EVERYONE is going to get it at some point or another. It's inevitable, just a matter of when.

If masks actually work; I'll swing by your house and fart in your face and you tell me if you can smell/taste it through my pants and undies......

There are plenty of businesses making face mask policies/other covid policies simply to avoid being shut down. I have been the one making these decisions for our company since day one of this. My greatest fear has been getting shut down so i have made sure to publicly post our guidelines and have written proof of everything we are doing to "be safe" since day one in case we get inspected. I personally do not agree what so ever with the face masks rules, but i asked the girls in our front office how they felt about it and they wanted masks mandatory for customers coming in, i told them i would not do that until we could get enough masks delivered to where we could provide our customers with a mask if they didnt have one. Once that happened we made it "required" to wear a mask in our office.

Again i have not worn a mask one time during any of this but many businesses just want to stay open and be left alone and stay under the radar. None of my employees wear them unless a customer is in the office and its limited to one at a time, it makes them feel more comfortable and doesn't slow our business down so o well. I have had enough arguments with family members and employees about how ridiculous all these shut downs/face masks/"non-essential" business/moving the goal posts to keep seeing how much the government can get away with, but as a business i have decided to comply in the most fair way i can to make sure my business is protected and i keep my employees and their families fully supported.

Everyone will be exposed to it. Only about a 60-70 percent infection rate so far.

Its because of social media. Everyone wants to have the next viral video. If folks are screaming against something like wearing a mask, someone with some type of credentials will post a video stating they are not affective. The everyone shares the shucks out if it and it's by god the gospel.

I mean the signs say, "shirt, shoes required". Pants are optional, so when masks are required I'm going pantless.

Reminds me of a sign I saw at a restaurant in Panama City Beach this weekend. Says:"Shirts and Shoes required, bras and panties optional".

My information is mostly based off of Stanford University epidemiology/virology/medical statistics researchers. They generally don't have an agenda, they're ranked among the top dozen in the world and are very serious about accuracy. Unlike the east coast ivy league universities, they had to claw and scratch their way into the Number 6 ranking in the country and they want to stay there.

Almost every university has some sort of socialist agenda now. Johns-Hopkins is one of the worst. Hence the reason the news media uses their (almost all wrong) information.

Look at the drastic drops they are seeing in Europe, Japan, and Canada because they locked down sooner, and more people wore masks out in public. We could end this sooner and really get back to business if we would stop turning common sense into a political stance.

I have said this before, I have no issues wearing a mask. I wear a sun guard for fishing and I can wear it 8hrs in one stretch no issues. That type of face mask is sufficient for what is required in Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile...etc.

That's what I will wear to work, b/c they are requiring a face covering, but no guidelines as to what qualifies...........with that said, they are ABSOLUTELY USELESS in terms of stopping a virus. I would trust a 20yr old expired condom from a gas station vending machine more than I would trust one of those to stop a virus.

And you just proved the point. That type of mask does with 100% certainty, nothing, to stop the germs from filtering through and into the air. Pull it up and breath through it. If you can feel hot air coming through to the outside of the mask (and you definitely will since I wear the same type for sun protection pretty much every weekend I fish), it ain't doing squat protecting you or others around you. All youre doing wearing it is virtue signaling, not saving lives or controlling the spread one bit. In other words, if that meets the requirement in B'ham, Monkeytown, and Mobile, then the requirement should not be in place to start with cause it doesnt do jack crap to prevent the spread of the virus.

I have a question for those that think:
1. Masks work in "flattening" the curve
2. This virus will disappear off the face of the planet if we wear masks
3. Once this virus is gone things will get back to normal
4. ETC

Why do we still have: sinusitis, pneumonia, flu, strep throat, pink eye, bronchitis, common cold, etc?

I'll wait.....

Dont hold your breath there waiting BGH. If you do, you'll die and they will definitely list you as a covid death since you asked a question related to covid PPE which caused you to hold your breath while waiting on a response, which then caused you to pass out from lack of oxygen and fall and hit your head, which then led to your death, which was ultimately caused by Covid, because if Covid was not the topic, you wouldnt have been holding your breath and waiting. See how that works. PLEASE Dont become a Covid number BGH. LOL

Japan did not lock down. They shut down for a few weeks. You need to educate yourself a little better.

The reason other countries had the huge spike and then drop is because it largely ran it's course while they were ineffectually bumbling around trying to figure out what to do. It ran it's course like any other illness does. Now they are past it and moving on. We, on the other hand, are dragging it out by playing tiddly winks with it. If we just open up, let it run it's course, just like the flu, the problem will go away eventually. But no, we need to crush the economy to get an agenda pushed and that's exactly what is going to play out. Damned if I'm wearing a mask unless it's absolutely necessary.. Not happening. I needed to get tags and pick up my ccp so I had to mask up long enough to do that and then it's off again. Drove to Shelby county for lunch. Won't spend one damned penny in Jefferson that I don't have to. I hate it for the business owners. It sux for them. They need to band together, get an attorney and sue the county commission for dereliction of duty. The health officer should have zero power to do a damned thing other that suggest to the commission they pass a statute. Instead they give him full power to hurt anyone he chooses for any reason he chooses. That's bulldoodoo. I've already offered to send $300 to any attorney someone can point me to that will file that lawsuit. People need to be held accountable and the JCC has been completely absent to reign in the health officer.
