Bmyers....since you're obviously the smartest guy in the room, explain to us why you would ever wear a mask? CDC, Fauci and Surgeon General of the US all came out, way back in late March or early April at the start of this and had a big televised press conference and they specifically said that these common masks will not in any way stop or prevent Covid transmission and that there is no need for the general public to wear one. If you didnt see it, I'm sure some of the aldeer internet slueths on here could link it up for you really easily.

Exactly, Clem. So why do we believe any of these guys now?????? Between them, they've probably been in they medical fields for 100+ years combined. With that type of experience and past history with other diseases like ebola, swine flu, etc., trust me they understood germs, precautions, and spread at that point in time. IMO, they most likely told the absolute truth in those initial statements and are now just saying what they are being told to say and most likely paid to say, in order to keep the fear going and the economy in a strangle hold.

Things could have been managed far, far better from multiple people, agencies and officials than has been done.
After you're told this and that and those people say this and that person says "Aw, BS" and an agency says Do THIS! but later says Do THAT!, and throw in peer pressure and distrust in government, and the fact that a lot of people think it's fake and also WebMD "is just as good as them so-called experts" and finally we're the USA and have freedom of choice ... it all makes for a tremendously bad stew.
I don't believe the Surgeon General or Fauci or CDC are bad. I think they said what they believed at the time was the best information. I'm sure pressure was brought to bear from above for them to change, tone down or "don't be negative" about it - and that's terrible, to put image over safety. But every presidential administration has done that for decades. Nothing new. Manage and spin.
But when the public repeatedly hears and sees more flip-flopping than at the beach, it eventually loses trust and interest, and makes its own decisions.

Probably gonna get jumped on for this......but here it goes. WTF is wrong with you people who refuse to wear a mask? If you sneeze or cough do your cover your mouth? My parents taught me that as manners and respect for those around me. This is simply common sense and respect for others. Asymptotic can and will infect other people. I know , I know. It’s your body and your an American. Also, don’t take things out of context, use the common sense God gave you. I did not even hear the news conference but what I take out of it,,,you see a kid carrying a semi or full auto ( whatever he said) call the Police. I’m pretty F’n sure he isn’t talking about a kid squirrel hunting. Can you prove that covid-19 is spread by asymptomatic people? WHO says no

You're definitely not the smartest person in the room. I was being facetious. And Geeb, you know better than to bring written proof of what the "so called" experts actually said into the discussion. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Abolt, Clem and Jwalker I respect your position. Stand by them that’s your right. Jerk Perch you can go piss up a rope I was fairly serious in my comments, as I truly believe (based on my knowledge of masks in industrial environments as well as the fact that I run with several doctors and surgeons) that masks provide minimal protection for the wearer of the mask or the people on the other side of it but I was also just giving you a hard time. The right kind of mask will definitely help prevent spread but John Q public does not have access to those type masks and a bandana, little cheap cloth mask, and the stuff I see everyone using, unfortunately, don't do flipping thing to help, not to mention the fact that virtually nobody understands sterile protocol when using masks or gloves anyway. To work even remotely effectively, the mask has to seal to your face and once it is on, you cannot touch it. Covid is real no doubt, but it is not nearly as bad and certainly not as deadly or contagious for healthy people as the fear mongers and liberal media constantly portray it to be. Covid is just a much a political disease as it is a virus and if Biden was to win in November, mark my words, it will still be around but it will be completely gone from the news by the day he takes office. Like I've said before, older immuno-compromised persons or persons having multiple comorbidity factors need to be very very careful with how they deal with it.

Well heres one i dont understand, the wife went to cullmam belk to buy few things to wear at the beach this week, dressing rooms closed because of jap flu, but you can buy clothes take them home try them on and bring them back for a refund if they dont fit, and belk will put them in quarintine for 72 hours before putting them back on the shelf, why not just let her try them on and then put them in 72 hour lock down before restocking, is it something iam missing here My guess is they don't want to have to try to disinfect everything that people might touch in the dressing rooms between each customer. They would have to station someone there to just do that I reckon even if they kept every other stall closed.

The cdc said over a month ago they hadnt found one instance where kungflu was transmitted by a touching any surface that had been contaminated. Jwalker, now dont you go bringing facts and data into an emotional and political argument. We must all virture signal our submission to the Covid through our actions. You know what I mean, kinda like wearing a mask anytime youre in public.

Lazy, sorry people that don't want to clean them and think that health department regs are suspended. Maybe the Regs are different now, I don't know but the real reason is they can get by without cleaning them. This really irks me because I Like to pee and wash my hands before I eat so my hands are clean and I won't have to get up in the middle of a meal. Just one of my little compulsive/obsessive things.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
