Was this already discussed here and I missed it? Anyone know why....? I know their stands weren't for everyone but I liked them.

I apologize if this was already discussed and I missed it...

From what I understand the old man died and the kids didn't really want to be bothered with it/screwed it up. The were supposedly selling accessories still but according to stuff I have seen on FB they charge your card if you order but you may or may not get the item ordered. It's a shame that the kids didn't just sell the business instead of running the name into the mud.

If summit would make a stand with the treewalker design where it touches the tree and the rest of it like a summit. It would be the best stand ever made.

Summit already has the best stands ever made. They have been making stands since I was a kid and have never went out of business. There’s a reason that stand design that Treewalker sells has been rebranded a half dozen times, recalled several times, and been the subject of countless lawsuits. They are death traps.

Summit has had a few minor changes over the years but why change something that is working so well. I remember when they changed from back bars to cables. I didn’t know if I would like it. Boy was I wrong. My son wanted his first climber to be the one that guy from Tuscaloosa sells at the deer shows. While I think they are good made stands I still had to start him in a summit. If I put myself in one and trust it then I wasn’t going to put him into anything less.

Never seen a Treewalker but usually good comments on here about them.

Cables on a summit are a PITA but I like them better than the back bar. I have a Viper. Putting the 2 pieces together with the seat and everything takes me 10 or more minutes (especially in the dark) after I get it off the tree. That seat never seems to go back on there like it’s supposed to. That said, once I’m on the tree I feel safe and solid and very comfortable. Especially with those 3rd hand stabilizing straps. Due to the hassle of putting it together, I rarely pack it in and back out and just leave it on the tree in a good spot.

Well I have both and no stand I have ever used will stay securely anchored to a tree better than the treewalker, however the summit is more comfortable.

There has never been anything like a TreeWalker. Rebranded or anything else. The inventor died of cancer. I was hoping someone would buy the company. mike if you get the cushion it's as comfortable any stand. I've never owned a Summit, they have gone thru a bunch of changes themselves. Several years ago two of their workers started their own stand company, but it didn't last. I loved API Grand Slam until they were sued out of business when a moron misused an old style safety belt and hung himself. Nothing clings to a tree like a chain does. Bass Pro bought them and moved them to China. That was the kiss of death for me. Even Summit has used parts from China at one point. NEVER trust your life to anything made in China. Several years ago some hunters in Alabama died from falls when Old Man stands made in China failed. Tree walker was 100% American made, a strong selling point for me, hopefully, someone will buy the company in the future.

Velvet tines, sorry but Gunslingeris comfortable, but its a step back. It still has bar around the tree, we pasted those years ago. The other negatives of a gunslinger are that its heavy as hell, and wbhen you get it, the Aluminum frame is as bright and shiny as a mirror. No thanks 26 lbs is too heavy. Most of us are looking for lighter, not heavier stands. 26 isn't that much ? Considering everything else we carry it may as well be a ton. The combo which is the closest thing they have to a Tree Walker only weighs 33 freakin pounds. Not no,but hell no. They may be ok if you plan to leave them on the same tree all season, but those bars, or scrapers as I call them are way noisier than any of the newer versions of cables or chains.

Thomas Jefferson. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Life is too short to only hunt and fish on weekends!

If being a dumbass was fatal some of you would be on your death bed!

This reminds me who was the attorney on here that was fixing to sue buckshot tree stands last year because his client fell? Just curious if it ever went to court or settled or what.

Yup I love mine. I've got an older one that I've had I don't know maybe 8, 9, 10 yrs. Can't find a reason to buy another one.

yeah dollar for dollar I havn't seen anything better. though I will admit that I wish they came with cotton seats again instead of the noisy polyester.

Yeah they do. I hunt with some guys on my club that have Summits and they're pretty much the same thing. I've never hunted out of a Summit so I can't honestly compare. I came from an Old Man to the Cougar Claw. I saw it on Craigslist one day years ago, fellow was needing some cash. It wasn't till sometime later I learned they were made right here on the south end of my county down in Foley. Since that time I have a friend that bought one and I like the newer ones but mine still works just like it always has so I can't justify buying another. My foot rest doesn't fold in and stays stuck out. That's the only negative about it. But on the new ones the foot rest folds in out of the way when packing. They are super quiet, very comfortable and holds the tree really well, both hardwood and pine. Summit maybe just as good but this one is all I know.
