OK Corral in muscle shoals is good stuff
Smokey C’s in Decatur has some good ribs

This is really a difficult question for several reasons:
1. Everyone's tastes are subjective. 2. People's ideas of what BBQ is can be subjective. 3. For some people the accouterments surrounding the BBQ can influence your overall experience. 4. Any restaurant can have good days and bad days.
I have had several experiences at Dreamland and they were all bad. I will never go back.
I have had many very good experiences at Golden Rule in Irondale and Hoover. The other's no so much. I like to go to Irondale and get Sammy to pull me some pork instead of slice it and I get Rose to double fry the fresh cut French fries so they are extra crispy and then I usually get the vinegar slaw which is a nice accompaniment. I also like their baked beans that have a little nutmeg in them. They're re like bean candy. All that said, their quality has seemed to drop off as of late.
I have always had a good experience at Saw's Juke Joint. I particularly liked the Pork and Greens. A combination of cheese grits, collard greens, Smoked pork and thin, crispy onion rings.
I have had some pretty good meals at Jim and Nicks in Trussville, but I haven't eaten there in quite a while.
We need to get down to Sally's in Ft. Payne. People keep saying good things about it. I also hear that Bar-B-Que Place just up the street is even better. I've heard Roadside Que is pretty good too. I've been up here off and on for 6 years and have never eaten at any of them.
The problem for me up here is that I have time to cook and if I have a craving for BBQ I put a butt on the smoker and smoke it all day, Mrs. Irish makes some of her fantastic slaw and baked beans and homemade sauce, and honestly I have yet to eat anywhere in Alabama that can beat that combination. I'm not saying that to boast, but only to say that there is no restaurant that can put the kind of love into some food that you can put into it. If you have the skills, the knowledge and the love for cooking, a restaurant will find it hard to beat you, because most people there are working to earn a paycheck, not because they love making great food. Finding a restaurant that loves to make good food is a rarity.

Worst. Very easy. Big Bob Gibson. In Decatur.
What'd you do, give CNC your login? You've lost your mind. Nope...I agree...it is just bad.

*Chicken and brisket aren't bbq..........they may be "bbq-style chicken and brisket", but they're not bbq.
"BBQ" is pork, cooked low and slow. /thread
You probably drive a F250 gas burner, thinking like that. A) you are incorrect in your assessment of my choice of vehicular transportation B) I was stating a fact, not asking others' opinion. It wasn't up for debate. You think brisket isn’t BBQ, so as a matter of fact you’re an absolute Gomer. Not debatable. Stupid. I'm with Gomer on this.

Worst is Big Bob Gibson's. How they are still in business boggles the mind.
Whitts sammiches are fine eatin. More Carolina style BBQ than Bama but they are good.
BBQ in Bama means pigs, not chicken or cow. I agree with all this BUT what makes you think Whitts is North Carolina style? I think Whitts is Alabama style myself. I compare everybody else's to Whitts and mine.

If y'all think Dreamland is the worst BBQ you have ever had you can dismiss yourself from this converstaion. While it tastes like garbage.... their sauce could make an old boot sole laced wih Cow chit taste better than some BBQ I've had other places.
There are some truly bad BBQ places around.... and Dreamland is one of them but it is far from the worst.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Some of the worst is Ricks BBQ in Florence and Muscle Shoals . That is the 2nd worst. I ate one near Davy Crockett State Park. Took four middle school boys after camping for two days. Three of the kids didnt even finish their plate.

I compare everybody else's to Whitts and mine. The vinegar based sauce. Slaw on the sammich. Bama BBQ sauces tend to be tomato based and sweet.

Chucks in Opelika: They are still open and serve good bar b ques. Thanks. Have not been there in, my gosh, I bet 20 years! Use to be a store about a block away that sold everything from groceries to sporting goods. Had rather good prices on fishing equipment. That would have to had been Story's Sporting Goods. They've sold out to a local family a couple years ago and it's now called Reynolds Outdoors. Solid store with a great gun selection. They were lacking on their fishing supplies last time I was in but that was shortly after they opened so I won't hold it against them. Glad it stayed local and not some chain.

We enjoy New Market BBQ for the pork and ribs. They also make great homemade cake.
The Racetrac in Big Cove had a guy who made great pork, ribs and wings. He had a smoker outside the station and when he ran out, he was out. Cool guy, very nice. He left sometime this year and no one working there knows how to find him or won't say. Sucks because he had good food.

Larry's BBQ in Dothan has to be on the list for worst.
