Dreamland was never my choice for ribs, even back in the 80's. They just had small, tough ribs. I would rather have their sauce than anywhere else, but they never did have over the top meat. The Dreamland in Montgomery is just awful.

Archie's Place out in Northport was alright for a sandwich, but I didn't care for their ribs either.

Jim's out on 82 from Maplesville is good.

I ate at the original Golden Rule a few months ago, it was ok, but it sure wasn't anything to write home about, it has gone downhill.

I haven't had any bbq near Montgomery or Wetumpka that lit my fire.

I did find a place in Red Bay Fl. going down toward Ebro that used St. Louis style ribs, those had some meat. However, their grill got destroyed in a storm, and I don't think they have replaced the grill. Plus the cook left. 14.99 all you could eat ribs and pulled pork, plus they would send my home with enough for lunch the next day!!!!!!! I would eat there a bunch.

Let me add one more worse place. Henleys BBQ in town creek. It really sucks

Jazzy’s in Tampa, FL is also damn good

Dreamlands is the worst I’ve ever had

It’s closed now but Beverly's BBQ In Columbiana was terrible.

Jim’s in Billingsley or Fatmans in Montgomery are the best.

The BBQ hut at the Shell station in Greenville has the best smoked turkey you’ll ever have.

I like 13th Street BBQ in Phenix City too. Hancocks in selma is ok but not the best.

Dreamland in Montgomery is bad.

The only flavor in Rodney Scott's BBQ is salt.

Try Fatmans next time you’re in the Gump.

Yep slaw and a hot vinegar sauce mayo and a couple pickles are how I like my sammich. It's how most of the places around here have always been. So I'm still going with Bama style.

Chucks barbecue in Opelika is fine, not great.
Golden Rule is terrible as is Hancocks in Selma and Byron's in Auburn(Byron's breakfast is good). i will say Dreamland ribs are the worst ribs I have ever had unless you like dry and tough. I had them at the original dreamland very disappointing.
Butcher Paper in Opelika is very good.
Fourteenth St. Barbecue in Phenix City used to be very good(I haven't been in years).
I like Mike and Ed's in Auburn.
The barbecue house in Auburn was great but they sold a few years ago and now it's a parking lot.
Best is hard to say for sure.
There are so many good ones. I pretty much listed all the bad ones I've been too.

Forgot about Byrons. Ya. They are bad. If you are over that direction, go to Mike and Ed’s for sure.

Never had the BBQ at Byron's but they serve a good breakfast.

I worked with Libby (owner) for a couple of years. She is one smart lady and highly driven. She left a bright career in IT management to do BBQ. That is passion. If you have not tried their smoked Mac and Cheese you are missing something.

Any good BBQ HAS to have a great sauce. Lost of places up here puts Sweet baby Rays in their own unmarked bottle. It’s a freaking joke.

I hate sweet thick sauce on BBQ. I am Boujee and will only eat a hot vinegar based thin sauce.

The franchise Golden Rule locations across the state are not the same as the two old locations. Not even in same league.

At Mike and Eds get the pork chop sandwich.

Smokin S in Wetumpka is the best I've had in 50-years.... show me some better and I will go check it out.

Kinda like Hancock's, it'll do for a quick lunch if you're in the area but I sure wouldn't go out of my way for it.
