Dreamland was never my choice for ribs, even back in the 80's. They just had small, tough ribs. I would rather have their sauce than anywhere else, but they never did have over the top meat. The Dreamland in Montgomery is just awful.
Archie's Place out in Northport was alright for a sandwich, but I didn't care for their ribs either.
Jim's out on 82 from Maplesville is good.
I ate at the original Golden Rule a few months ago, it was ok, but it sure wasn't anything to write home about, it has gone downhill.
I haven't had any bbq near Montgomery or Wetumpka that lit my fire.
I did find a place in Red Bay Fl. going down toward Ebro that used St. Louis style ribs, those had some meat. However, their grill got destroyed in a storm, and I don't think they have replaced the grill. Plus the cook left. 14.99 all you could eat ribs and pulled pork, plus they would send my home with enough for lunch the next day!!!!!!! I would eat there a bunch.

Ridgewood BBQ, Bluff City, TN is the best Jazzy’s in Tampa, FL is also damn good
Dreamlands is the worst I’ve ever had

I haven't seen this one mentioned but I think y'all oughta give him a shot if you're in Bham- Rodney Scott's. The sauce ain't my favorite, but I like BBQ to stand on it's own merit and his sure does a bang up job in my book. Saw's is good too. My favorite is a toss up between R&R in Odenville and The Shack (between Pell City and Talladega on Stemley). The only flavor in Rodney Scott's BBQ is salt.

Worst is Big Bob Gibson's. How they are still in business boggles the mind.
Whitts sammiches are fine eatin. More Carolina style BBQ than Bama but they are good.
BBQ in Bama means pigs, not chicken or cow. I agree with all this BUT what makes you think Whitts is North Carolina style? I think Whitts is Alabama style myself. I compare everybody else's to Whitts and mine. The vinegar based sauce. Slaw on the sammich. Bama BBQ sauces tend to be tomato based and sweet. Yep slaw and a hot vinegar sauce mayo and a couple pickles are how I like my sammich. It's how most of the places around here have always been. So I'm still going with Bama style.

Forgot about Byrons. Ya. They are bad. If you are over that direction, go to Mike and Ed’s for sure. Never had the BBQ at Byron's but they serve a good breakfast. Mike and Eds, meh.

We enjoy New Market BBQ for the pork and ribs. They also make great homemade cake
I worked with Libby (owner) for a couple of years. She is one smart lady and highly driven. She left a bright career in IT management to do BBQ. That is passion. If you have not tried their smoked Mac and Cheese you are missing something.

The franchise Golden Rule locations across the state are not the same as the two old locations. Not even in same league.

Smokin S in Wetumpka is the best I've had in 50-years.... show me some better and I will go check it out.
Jim's. Take 82 towards maplesville, just a couple miles past the Vida junction.

Smoking S ranks average at best. Kinda like Hancock's, it'll do for a quick lunch if you're in the area but I sure wouldn't go out of my way for it.

You might also like Noodie Carol's in Plantersville. I think he only cooks on the weekends now. But it's right off 22 on church street past Pickering grocery.

Jim’s in Billingsley or Fatmans in Montgomery are the best.
The BBQ hut at the Shell station in Greenville has the best smoked turkey you’ll ever have.
I like 13th Street BBQ in Phenix City too. Hancocks in selma is ok but not the best.
Dreamland in Montgomery is bad. Yep, the smoked turkey at the Shell in Greenville is some count. Exit 128 if you don't already know. Everybody keeps on talking about Hancock's, which is OK, but what about Lannie's?
"Cull" is just another four letter word...
