I guess I'm the only one here who enjoyed Dreamland Ribs back when Big Daddy John was grilling them. A rib sandwich was 3 ribs on a slice of white bread, sauce on the side. No sides but you had a choice of Sprite, Coke or Sweet tea to drink. Sweet Tea usually ran out by noon. Best ribs around. When Dreamland franchised they went downhill quick. The sauce used in Mobile is watered down a bit but that's my opinion. RIP Big Daddy. The best I've had since were Boss Hog before it burned down in West Mobile in early 90's and Brick Pit on Old Shell Road. I first ate at the original Dreamland about 35 years ago. I wasn't a big BBQ fan at that time but wanted to try these ribs everyone was talking about so I stopped one night on the way to our hunting club in Linden. It was great. I scarfed down one slab and ordered another slab. I thought about ordering one more but needed to get back on the road.

Pruett's in Gadsden is a staple. They used to have $1 sandwiches with a 10 sandwich limit per person. Now it's $1.50 a sandwich. They are some count.... but Gadsden ain't got any other real bbq joints. They got the market cornered. We have had some really good meals there. I went once on a Saturday afternoon and got their ribs and they were some of the best I have had. I didn't even use any sauce on them. Not fall off the bone, but pull off the bone. Cooked to perfection. All their other food is pretty good too.

I forgot all about Ken's BBQ in Pinson. It was a must stop eats at one time but I haven't eaten there in years. There was a place just over the line in Florida that had the best ribs and a spicy sauce. Apparently Flora-Bama bought their building. A Vietnamese family bought it and they still do a great job. It's been a while since I've had their BBQ and I remember it as being petty damn good, but their breakfast is always spot on. One of the best breakfast places in the Birmingham area.

There are a few locations but the original is best. They have some really good smoked Turkey.

Shonuff and Cottons is good. There is August bbq in between Sylacauga and Childersburg that is great.
Best I've ever had is toss up between a joint outside Corpus Christi and the burnt ends at the Smoke House in KC.
Honorable mention to Interstate bbq in Memphis.

Deep South BBQ & Soul Food. Blount county, Blountsville AL. Best ribs in the state period. He cooks them early in the morning, when there gone he closes. Best to go about lunch time on Friday. I would suggest calling before making the drive, he sells out every day. Can’t believe no one has mentioned Green Top for one of the worst. What else does he have besides ribs, since it's named "soul food"? Greens? Neckbones? Beans? The works? Need to try Holy Smoke in Hartselle for smoked wings if you havent. Best I have found by far. I like Johnny's in Cullman for pork. I like their wings, for sure. Good stuff, as is the pork. I forgot all about Ken's BBQ in Pinson. It was a must stop eats at one time but I haven't eaten there in years. There was a place just over the line in Florida that had the best ribs and a spicy sauce. Do they have Viet food or focus on BBQ, or a mix? What's good for breakfast?

I had to ponder for awhile on the worst that did not come from a can. I guess I have to go with Bennett's in Pigeon Forge. The pulled pork wasn't that good but I'm told the brisket and chicken were good.
I will go on record as predicting the new all time for bad will be Krystals. I saw an ad last night that they are going to now start selling little Krystal pulled pork sammiches for $1.89 each. You know those are going to be some sure nuff good Q.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I've never been to Gibsons, and it's certainly hard to judge a picture. But the macaroni looks store-bought and the fries appear to be extremely greasy. Just what I can taste from a picture. 🤔

Just what I can taste from a picture. 🤔 I have been to Gibsons and it wasn't great but not terrible. I like some bark with my Q so that in the picture would be fine by me, but I agree with what your perception of the sides would be. Gibson's lives off the reputation of their White sauce, which I don't particularly care for.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
