I've never been to Gibsons, and it's certainly hard to judge a picture. But the macaroni looks store-bought and the fries appear to be extremely greasy. Just what I can taste from a picture. 🤔 I have been to Gibsons and it wasn't great but not terrible. I like some bark with my Q so that in the picture would be fine by me, but I agree with what your perception of the sides would be. Gibson's lives off the reputation of their White sauce, which I don't particularly care for. so is Gibson's BBQ the place where Big Bob Gibson's BBQ sauce comes from? (several flavors of this sauce, sells at winn dixie and other stores)

My favorite memories of Dreamland is when I would go to the original Dreamland around the time of a football game, and these Yankees would be in there trying to order cole slaw, onion rings, mac and cheese, and Big Daddy John would tell them, Look, we got ribs, we got bread, we got chips, Thasit! We ain't got nuthin' else! Ribs, white bread, chips...!!

Gibsons has a fair chicken potato. I used to love any of their pies. But the last three times I have tried them I couldn't eat half of it. It was that bad. I love white sauce just not their white sauce. I have given them two more chances than I intended to and I won't ever be back. They used to be ok, but were never my favorite except for the coconut pie. It is beyond bad now so I am done.

Decatur. The smoked wings at Big Bobs are excellent. I personally like there chicken and pies. As far as there pork and ribs I’ve had better. I’ve lived around Decatur all my life. Big Bobs is definitely no where near as good as it was when I was a kid.

My personal all time favorite BBQ joint was Sonny’s BBQ in Hillsboro Alabama. Unfortunately the 2011 tornados destroyed the restaurant and they choose not to rebuild.

I'm with hevishot and 2dogs for our area. Mudcreek def aint what it once was. I hadnt been there in 5 yrs or longer. I really like Boarhogs in huntsville on HWY72. I use to go there alot when I worked in the area. They was usually pretty consistent and has a few different good smoked meats. KCs in scottsboro is ok. Holysmokes in scottsboro is ok. Tates in scottsboro is ok. None around that blow me away. I've gotten to where I'll cook 90% of my bbq because the quality of everything else is just ok.
Tate's is best in town now. Back in the day Mud Creek was best by far and some of the best pork on the planet. Mr. Lec's Grand Son, Bud Baily cooked some in the early 80s. He went to the world BBQ cookin' in Memphis , won the taste and tenderness in the class he was in on his first and only trip out there. They'd be run out of town if they took what they're selling now to the big show in Memphis. Bud used to cook deer shoulders and hams for us, man that was fine eating. He could smoke them without drying them out.

August’s on Hwy280 in Sylacauga is some more good. Great pulled pork, chicken, & brisket. Last night I ate a day old leftover of their “smoked ribeye” that was absolutely wonderful. Best I can tell they smoked it for a while to give it some flavor and then seared it just prior to serving.

Worst- Smokey Hollow BBQ on HWY 13 between Eldridge and the 4-way stop at 13/102 intersection. They put mayonnaise on a BBQ sandwich unless you request otherwise🤮
Hard to rank a best cause it’s really hard to screw up BBQ unless you put mayo on it.

BBQ sandwich. Bottom bun, light mayo, 3 dill pickle chips, hand full pulled meat, vinegar based hot sauce, vinegar slaw, top bun with a touch of mustard.

so, y'all flung a cravin on me, and we went to Jims on 82 for lunch. first time. it is some count! the pulled pork was better (to me) than the ribs but both good, and that sauce is the best. Love me some tangy BBQ sauce. I don't think the sides are homemade..we got tater salad, beans, slaw and some crazy corn fried things my wife got...nasty. but the meat and sauce were fantastic. highly recommended. now I got to go to Decatur... I was there when Jim Lenoir built that place. His daughter runs it now and I'm not a big fan of the sides, although the beans are pretty good. But the BBQ is the best I ever had anywhere.

The 2 best I have ever had are now closed, 231 BBQ and The BBQ Shack. The worst I've had around here is Dobb's. Ill agree with the worst being Dobbs!!
